Zift cog scratches with the zwift ride

Hi there, I bought the wahoo kick core bundle with the zwift frame and I noticed it was very wobbly so had to crank it up to 4 so it was stable, but it’s very noisy and my readings jump up and down, so I now notice the cog is scratching with the frame, it came pre installed and I’m using the correct adapters , c and 148.

I contacted support 3 days ago but no reply, I tried it again today but I found other users with similar issues and got a fast reply from support so I thought I’d try my luck here, as maybe I installed something wrong?

Thanks everyone!

You’re missing a spacer

Hey, thanks for your reply.

But, what spacer? I’m using adapter d and adapter c, there is no spacer. I took one picture of the side without the adapter so it can be seen inside, but if you notice in the other picture what pertrudes is adapter C.

Hi Cris, thanks, but that’s exactly how I’m using it, as I reply above to Glenn

As others before me as seen in other threads, like:

Zwift Cog wobble

Or

Zwift cog rubbing against Zwift frame

Possibly this thread may help ?

Hi Ian, thanks for sharing that thread.

As shown, the zwft ride is setup with the thu axel adapter, the black one

Using the quick release adapters is not possible because they are too slim to fit the thru axel one.

So I’m using the correct adapters, the Black ones, with the 142 side correctly, it is the adapter C that sits too inside the whole and then it doesn’t provide enough support. I think it’s a problem, as shown in the two threads I referred to, that the assembly of the kicker core was done with a wrong attachment before shipping.

I assume the thru axle is fully engaging the non-drive side.

Do you have a picture of it with the thru axle screwed it it should be flush with the frame or could it be something like this Mounting Zwift Ride on Kickr Core - #8 by shooj

Hi, can’t take a picture now but it is fully engaged

I just saw DCRainmaker new review and his C adapter sits so much more outside than mine, he says it falls off while mine would never, here his picture

So it’s definitely something wrong with my unit I hope someone from zwift sees it soon

The silver adapter in your second picture looks to be an odd one. It’s more like an Elite end cap with the flat sides. The Wahoo one on my Kickr 5 has no flats. The other pictures provided the adapters are all black.

@Jaime_Villegas
Shuji at Zwift HQ here.

Your KICKR Core v2 should have come with different adapter pieces.

Are you using item 7, the drive side spin cap? That is still needed in addition to the freehub locknut that’s already in place. This person on the other thread already linked was in your situation and that was the solution. See also Wahoo’s support page for the adapter installation.

I see you have a ticket opened already with our Support Team. If this solves it for you, please let them know. Also let them know if you need additional help. We don’t handle requests on this public forum where we may need to send missing parts and you need to share your personal information.

Hi Shuji, many thanks for your reply.

As you can see from my pictures the new kickr core 2 doesn’t come with the silver things you post, but with black ones and I’m using the one that is the equivalent to the one you say, adapter c, but it doesn’t sit well it lays too much inside the cog side, this issue has been already posted and t seems some kind of fault when mounting the cog by manufacturer, in fact support guy said the same, that I’m missing a spacer, but I didn’t mount it it came pre installed so it’s, as a said, faulty from the get go.

As they already reached out I hope this is solved quickly.

Thanks and best regards

Thanks my friend, yes I think it’s they installed something wrong when manufacturing or shipping hopefully they sort it out soon

Ok zwft sent me a replacement, it was not missing anything but there is an slim spacer that came with it that did the trick, the cog is still wobbly but I have some testing to do, but not it doesn’t scratch

That sounds like maybe the freehub is not fully seated.
