New Zwift Hub - no power, cadence, speed data

No need to apologise there @Jamie_Brady_6978

That’s a real success story given the experience I’ve had and glad things are progressing for you. Really do hope that the replacement works perfectly from box open (well, box open & firmware update  )

So a brief update - delivery of the warranty replacement should be tomorrow

No update on the collection though, even though it is the same courier company

Followed these instructions this morning, but to no avail, also tried android only, apple computer, and apple computer plus companion app and linking through the phone. Nothing I did gave me any readings. This was similar to what support responded (via email) and had me try. I will call the number once they have opened (10am PDT).

Just for completeness, I took my spin-bike cadence sensor and stuck on the pedals, and it, and my HRM registered right away and showing readings. The Zwift hub is connected (and keeps connection solid), but gives no readings on power, cadence, or speed, etc. regardless of how many times it’s restarted / unpaired / re-paired / hardware (phone, computer, hub, etc) BT on/off or reboots. I’ll see what support says if I get them on the phone, but my guess is that there’s something wrong with this unit internally.

I will definitely NOT be doing the firmware update before hooking it up and testing it first. At least that variable will be controlled this time.

Well hey, saw you are getting your replacement sooner than we are. We don’t have a tracking number or shipment confirmation yet so assuming this is going to take 4-5 days to arrive like the original unit.

Sorry, folks. My unit worked fine last night, so I can’t provide any help.

well it has been delivered and I’ve just put it all together

First power-on:
Using built-in bluetooth on the PC - sees the hub:

Not performing the firmware update and spinning the flywheel and I get power readings :tada:

Next, firmware update via the companion app and see what happens

and post firmware update - all still working fine via PC bluetooth

Via Mobile Companion App bluetooth:

And via ANT+ PC Dongle:

which then updated (so I turned bluetooth off to make sure it was ANT+ connection):

So all appears to be working and first delivery was a duff unit

Hope anyone else with a similar issue can get their warranty replacement sorted very soon.

Woohoo - and DPD are collecting the paperweight from home address tomorrow.

Well - no ‘fix’ to the issue other than get a replacement - but one thing I’ve taken away is that you have to keep badgering support and then push back on things that don’t fit your needs.

strange that it changes the picture for power source but not controllable

Girlfriend’s replacement unit arrived today and it connected straight away while paired through the companion app via Bluetooth. Haven’t done the firmware update yet. Tested it in the other end of the house to minimize signal interference, but will be moving it down to the pain cave soon to test it there

FYI - After opening a support case and doing some troubleshooting, support decided that it was time to ship me a new unit. It arrived a few days later, with a return label in an email. New unit is functioning great both before and after the firmware uupdate. I believe something was not connected properly within the housing (just my suspicion), but shipping back the RMA’d unit tomorrow.

I really do like that Zwift was responsive, and they shipped me a new unit, before I had to ship back the faulty one.

Just to tag along, my new HUB as of 11/03/22 worked 3 different rides. Updated to 3.9 firmware and I’m fairly certain it has bricked my unit. Support ticket is open. Same thing as everyone else has described, connects to any device Phone, laptop but zero speed, power signal

Just got mine yesterday 11/4/22. Junk! no power output or speed. same issues as everyone else on this link.

Hi @Jerry_Plyer

Sorry to hear that.

Does the trainer show up in the pairing screen.

What device are you using?

Do you use ANT+ or Bluetooth

Did you update the firmware?

Using bluetooth and laptop. it shows up as paired but I cannot get an output showing speed or watts.
Also tried using zwift on my iphone with the same results. Also updated the firmware.

Did it work before you updated the firmware?

Are you sure that the trainer is not connected to another device or to the laptop?

Updated firmware first so i have no idea. It’s only connected to the laptop.

Shut everything off and plugged in the trainer only.
Blue light was flashing so it was looking to pair a device.
turned on the laptop and the Zwift app.
Blue light turned solid so it was paired.
Tried to do a spin down and no output.

Check in the laptop Bluetooth settings that the trainer is not paired there.

Same issues as everyone else here. Hub shows paired on everything, but no power Or watts output. Even at calibration it reads 0 mph. Not connected to anything and tried the connect to Zwift companion and then the app. Didn’t work. iPhone firmware update and still not working. Reset Bluetooth. Tried on phone app and computer. Disconnect power to hub and reconnects to Zwift app instantly after I restore power. Still no reading for power watts or cadence!? Chat support was 0 value. Got the cable company unplug power for 60 seconds tech support . I had to use a freight forwarder to get this to Guam since I’m here for military. This is going to make a return a nightmare.
