Kickr speed but no power or cadence

Hi,

My Wahoo Kickr v5 stopped giving power feedback last week. I’ve been emailing Wahoo support and gone through all their troubleshooting steps.
Switching off all apps, restarted iPad and kickr, forgot sensors and reconnect, switch off any other Bluetooth device, etc.
Originally I had no resistance control but after some resets at the weekend I can now increase resistance in a Wahoo fitness workout using the screen to increase the percentage. I still have no power or cadence feedback (almost none).

Yesterday’s request was to perform a factory spin down.
However I can’t do this as the speed feedback is very low so I can’t hit the 22.4mph requirement. I’m waiting feedback on how I can perform.
The photos show a small workout recorded in the Wahoo fitness app.
The strange thing is some power and cadence comes in after I hit a very high real life cadence; probably 150rpm.
I’m not sure this is a Bluetooth connection issue if I have speed, can control resistance and get some power and rpm feedback.

Any suggestions on how to perform a factory spindown if even in fastest gear and legs spinning very fast it can reach the 22.4mph?

Also any comments on whether this is likely a Bluetooth connection issue given I can get some feedback?

Thanks,

Richard

A small bunch of people are having power related issues as well as the odd possible bluetooth issue. I would say that Zwift are having a small run of bluetooth issues over the past month or so (as if the sensivity has been reduced hence people are having disconnects). See this post from Zwift but this may be red herring.

The only consistent issue with V5’s seems to be gradient feeling reversed/lagging, not working sometimes. Having a read of this thread to see if symptoms are similar. A post (#15’ish) offers how to downgrade firmware, but I would caution doing that if the symptoms in the thread dont match yours. Ask Wahoo if you should do this.

Regarding the spindown, even though you shouldnt have to do one on a V5, if Wahoo are suggesting it then make sure you only use the Wahoo app, and I’d power reset the Kickr to make sure any existing bluetooth connections arent active. Dont use the spindown feature in Zwift. Also if you run Garmin Connect on a phone, make sure you have fully closed that.

Factory spindown instructions here

Thanks, Wahoo gave me the factory spin down instructions but I can’t complete as a can’t get close to 22.4mph.
It’s speed and cadence are probably out by about 200% so when it says I’m doing 50rpm I’m doing closer to 150rpm and 12mph I’d be doing over 36mph. If on the road in fastest gear at 100+rpm it would be a 40mph+ decent.

That sounds like an issue for Wahoo support.

Wahoo support replied and have asked to replace the Kickr.
Hopefully I’ll be back on Zwift in a week or so.
Thanks

Thanks to Wahoo for a fast replacement. It was collected on Thursday and the new one arrived Saturday morning. The replacement works fine.

Hi, I have the same issue. Contacted Wahoo and they said they’d replace it but will charge me for a discounted recertified v5. Were you charged?
Thx

@Mike_Rowe1 gets a new Kickr every year including an upgrade on his last one I think and pretty sure he doesn’t pay a dime
