Companion App connection problems? [iOS 18] [macOS 15]

I was warming up in Titans Grove….went to join even with a minute to start. Thanks

This worked for me as well - thanks!

Ok, this is getting ridiculous for me. I’ve tried everything, and the only thing that works for me is to disable the firewall on the Mac, but then it resets to on randomly and I get a connection error on Zwift. It just kicked me out of a race. I did reach out the support team, and I all I got were canned replies that addressed none of my concerns.

@shooj did the mac update this past monday to sequoia 15.0.1. Ipad is 7th gen running 17.6.1. os. No maps, messages, or ride on possible from companion app while riding. Tried uninstalling zwift a few times and ZCA and no luck getting the pop up notice to allow connection. Rest of ZCA seems to be working.

Did the reinstall on the MacBook (remove the app, downloaded the newest version and install), allowed the Bluetooth setting during the installation and it’s working again. Thanks a million :v:

So for me it wasn’t a iPhone Companion app issue, but a MacBook Zwift issue.

My Mac will not allow me to uninstall Swift, and I am having the same issue.
I try dragging it to the bin but it will not uninstall and I do not get the message to delete the app. Any suggestions

Somehow the ZCA map, ride ons, messages, etc. is working again while zwift is active. For three rides in four days. Two free rides/ToW and one race. Do not know what I hit exactly used in control panel to make to work again as no permission window ever showed up.

15.1 could be interesting…

Confirmed fix

I just installed macOS 15.1. Unfortunately no change.

Same issue: If I launch Zwift using the Zwift Launcher, it doesn’t connect to the Zwift Companion (ZC) on my iPhone. If I launch ZwiftAppSilicon directly, Zwift connects to ZC with no problem…

Just noticed Companion App issue with my iPad Pro. I can explore workouts but I can’t explore routes. I have 18.0.1 iPadOS-version. I reboot my iPad but it didn’t help and also re-installed companion app without success. With my iPhone companion app works.

edit. now it doesn’t work with my iPhone either.

Hello Gang - same problem. iOS 18.1 on I-Phone. Sequoia 15.1 on MacBook Air. I’ve deleted and reloaded Companion App multiple times. I’ve done a complete delete and reboot of the Zwift game on the MacBook. Updated Wahoo Kickr firmware. Performed the Local Network checks. Nothing works.

Basically - I can use the Companion App to enter an event, no problem. But don’t get the maps (and importantly, the coffee (pee!!!) breaks during group rides).

The Companion App doesn’t find the Kickr in “Zwift Hardware.”

It seems to me the Companion App is talking to Zwift globally, but not the Kickr???

Any new revelations?

The Kickr is not “Zwift hardware” so it should not show up there, but clearly there is a problem with the Companion app connecting to the game.

OK so it’s not just me having issues. I’m new to Wahoo, Zwift. Bought a Kickr SNAP last January, got it working with an 11 year old MacBook Pro that died over last summer.

My newer one, an M3 MBP running Sequoia 15.1 will run Zwift 1.1.11 (1) just fine but I’m having fits trying to get Kickr paired directly. Works fine with my iPhone 15Pro running iOS 18.1 but that won’t drive my 30" Apple (OLD, circa 2006) monitor.

‘Companion app’ only runs on iOS so I’m going to try Apple’s new iPhone mirroring feature to get larger external monitor to display what my iPhone shows me when using Zwift with my trainer.

Currently have a new iPhone 16 running ios18.1 running the Companion App. The computer is a windows computer running the Zwift windows App. This worked on an older iPhone 10 with iOS 16.
I have verified the iPhone16 and the computer are both in the same subnet and on the same wireless network. The Companion app is not connecting with the computer.
When going to Location Services on the iPhone, Zwift nor Companion show up in the list of available Apps. What is the fix?

Hello I share the same issues as listed above. I use MacOS, as a work around i found to avoid reinstalling the app each time, in Settings / Privacy / Local network access - select disable and reenable and it works (you need to do this each time you restart).
Separately i tested a few other applications and i can confirm this appears to be a specific Zwift issue, specifically i tested MyWhoosh, Wahoo both use the local networks (as above), and both work no issue (they support multiple power meters, and this works no issues).

I have been a problems to connect Companion app with Zwift as well for a while. iPhone 16 Pro and MacBook Pro are the devices I use. I have try to use most of a tip I have found turn on the airplane mode from iPhone, disable and reenable local network access. Turn off the wifi and turn on again. Little bit try and error which one work and which one isn’t. Better start fight with that way before you join any events.

OK Gang - after much angst, and nearly a month of Zwifting without the Companion (aka – pee breaks), here’s what worked for me (all pieces that are discussed above, but a couple of important added nuances):

  1. Hard, complete delete of Zwift App from MacBook. Zwift has instructions regarding exactly how do do this. It’s important to follow these instructions AND (this was the critical part for me), restart the computer prior to reinstalling Zwift. It took 3 deletes and reinstalls for me to get this working, the difference being on attempt #3 I did the reboot between uninstall and install.

  2. Delete Companion App from I-Phone. Similar to above, reboot the phone, then reinstall Companion App.

In both cases, allow location services and Local Area Network connections.

I believe the reboot prior to reinstall is key.

solved with this workaround! Thank u so much.
Mac os sequoia 15.1
ios 18

on macOs side: go to Settings / Privacy / Local network access: toggle the Zwift app from off to on.
Immediately Companion app switched to MAP mode :ok_hand:
