Companion App connection problems? [iOS 18] [macOS 15]

To fix this, several people on this thread have uninstalled and reinstalled Zwift (sometimes more than one time) to get the Mac to ask for the Local Access network permission. Once the Mac has done that the Companion app should connect.

You can also go (on your Mac) to Settings->Privacy&Security->Local Network and see if Zwift is listed. If not, you’ll need to do the uninstall/reinstall of Zwift as said above. If you >do< see Zwift in the list, try toggling the switch beside Zwift OFF, then ON.

Hopefully this will get your Companion app to connect.

After updating my iPhone 13 to iOS 18 and my MacBook pro to MacOS Sequoia 15.0 i can not connect with the companion app. I am on the same network and installed te latest update for de companion app. The app does not find my zwift ride anymore. Before all updates, there were no problems. How can I fix this?

Thank you and sorry for my late response
No. The problem from what I understand is more sophisticated more than expected
To solve it i (due to and thanks to Zwift support) took time.
But yes it was resolved.
Yet, I think that Zwift more easy to solve it to the IOS users.

Thank you
And thank Zwift fast response

My best guess is it’s either:

  1. A Sequoia issue (which would mean Zwift needs an update); and/or
  2. You need to update to the latest Zwift Ride controllers firmware via the Companion App.

I don’t have this problem, but I’m running Zwift on AppleTV 4K 3rd Gen (tvOS 18), and I updated my controller firmware two days ago.

But I just updated my MacBook Air to Sequoia, so maybe I’ll run a test tomorrow.

This solution does not work for me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Zwift software several times. And yes, each time I was asked for access to the network. Even deactivating and activating Privacy&Security/Network Access didn’t help.
Companion App (iPhone iOS 18) and iPad Zwift App (iOS 18) work together perfectly. Only the new Mac OS 15 causes problems.
I hope for a fix from Zwift soon.

I tried the solution that is mentioned in the same treat that was made some days ago and that solution worked for me

This worked for me. thx. :+1:t2:

Same issues for me tried everything no change. So ran Zwift on one iphone and CA on another iphone no dropouts so far . So looks like a Macos V15 issue.

With the new update to macOS 15.0.1 the connection problems have disappeared! At least for me.

Thanks for all the reports, everyone. I have been keeping an eye on this, and so far from my findings online this seems to be an issue on Apple’s side. There hasn’t been anything official from them recognizing this as far as I can tell.

I was holding off uninstalling to troubleshoot internally, and I can confirm that macOS 15.0.1 did solve this. Upon updating my macbook, the same Zwift instalation that was not connecting to ZC now prompts for local connections again and ZC connects as expected.

My problem may be slightly different. The companion app on my iPhone has only ever paired to my iPad like two out of 15 times since I started using zwift. Have reinstalled apps and reset hardware but so inconsistent.

Is there some button or specific trigger that the companion app needs to connect that I’m missing?

No it’s probably something related to your home network. If it ever worked then the devices themselves are capable of finding each other and it is unlikely to be a permission problem on the device unless something changed since the last time it worked. Not all of the advice below is strictly required but generally a good idea when troubleshooting…

  1. Power cycle the network equipment and both devices
  2. Put the devices in airplane mode and then enable WiFi manually so there’s no chance of switching to cellular data
  3. Make sure both devices are on the same WiFi network
  4. If the router has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz transmitters using the same network name, rename the 2.4GHz network to something else to force both devices onto the 5GHz band.
  5. Don’t use VPNs
