Zwift won't adjust power and terrain after latest Wahoo KICKR firmware v4.21

I can also confirm that the only thing really working is downgrading the firmware to 4.1.2.

In the firmware rollback screen, is there a possibility to get some information on the nigthly builds so one could test them out?

So when I press 10 times to click of firmware upgrade (downgrade for me), it says, no upgrade found…

I had to go in and out the menu option a few times before the firmware options appeared. The phone seems te be downloading them. It did appear btw, and I downgraded successfully to 4.1.2 and no longer experiencing issues.

Updated Zwift today and now back to this issue again!!!

Thought I had it fixed.

I just updated Zwift today and now it’s doing the same thing to my Kickrv1.
It was doing it before but resolved when I disconnected Kickr and the wahoo app.

I have a WAHOO KICK V5 built in 2020. I experienced problems with the resistance after upgrading the firmware to Version 4.2.2. The problems were to an extend that they prevented to finish group rides i.e. when the restiance got the max when riding down a step gradient such as fro mteh Radio Tower. Odly enough the power was indicated correctly in the display only that it makes no sense to predal down a gradient of -15% with a cadence of 25 and 300+ Watt power.

I was about to return the KICKR to the store if the problem could not be solved.

Of course I re started all systems several times (APPLE TV 4K, Companion App, KICKR V5) with no effect at all.

The solution to get rid of the problem for the last 5 rides was the downgrade of the firmware to version 4.1.2

From this thread I see that it is not an isolated problem but that WAHOO has not yet come up with a solution. That leaves me worried that I may run in a similar situation again in the future i.e. with upgrades of ZWIFT coming up.

I am on 4.2.2 and can’t ride zwift on either iPhone or PC… the wahoo app will spin down but zwift will not do it properly. It’s a massive issue and I’m ready to throw it out the window- along with zwift. Downgrading firmware is not possible for me as it relies on You having the software in an iTunes Backup. Please helpppppp!!!

I was in workout mode today and after I took a small pause, Zwift lost control of the trainer. I tried to reconnect between ANT and BT - no help. But then I paused the workout and Zwift got hold of the trainer again! I was able to do this two times during the workout.

Not sure how you would “pause” a normal ride, though. But maybe something to try…

As for the access to old firmware versions on iPhone - not sure what’s going on there. But maybe ask to loan a friend’s phone temporarily, install wahoo app and downgrade that way?

Never had problems before…but after updating Zwift to newest version on ATV (1.12.1) I have: Yesterday I’d a weird racing experience. Something was completely wrong. Resistance totally screwed. Less resistance in slopes than in downhill. Had to quit the race. After this I rode in Watopia in free ride without quitting Zwift and resistance was correct again. I’m using Kickr Core newest version with newest firmware 1.0.13

I have Kickr V5 07 TV 7C, tried rolling back to firware 4.1.2 , but cannot bring up firmware list on

Have been tapping on the small kickr image, but no response. Any suggestions?

I have tried tapping on the symbol ten times, but no response! Any suggestions?

When you tap on the kickr symbol, be sure to do it relatively quickly and multiple times. When successful the version of your kickr software will show up. You then need to click on it and it should bring up options to downgrade.

Thank you, that worked. After that my Wahoo Climb does not respond!

Thank you Tom, managed to roll back the firmware. Do you know if there has been a fix for this issue released?

Glad it worked for you. I am not aware of any fix available. I just have kept my firmware where it is and haven’t accepted any upgrades.

Just updated to v4.2.2 tonight and same thing, power wasn’t responding in workout, was lagging behind by over a minute. Kickr V5. Also noted that after the initial update, I tried to run a Calibration (even though the V5 doesn’t need to) it wouldn’t run properly. Kept telling me to keep pedaling or timed out. When it did run the speed was completely off. I then rolled back to v4.2.1 and seems to have fixed the resistance power but not the calibration. Think I’ll move back to v4.1.2 since this seems to be what this thread is suggesting.

I thought I was going crazy but the resistance I was getting in my rides almost had an inverse relationship with the gradient on rides. A +4% gradient was spinning easily and a -4% downhill section was almost killing me! It wasn’t consistent though so isn’t simply an inversion, it’s very difficult to describe a pattern other than resistance not aligning to the gradients in Zwift at all.

I’ve only ever connected Zwift to the Kickr on one device - a Macbook Pro - so there’s no multiple device connection going on.

The only way around this that I found, thanks to this thread, was to dowgrade the Kickr firmware to v4.1.2.

I have a Kickr hardware revision V6 according to the Wahoo app.

From the TR forum I spotted this (so let’s hope this upcoming fix will sort Zwift out as well - or that Zwift somehow manages to support the Wahoo Direct Connect dongle like all the other platforms… BTW, Kickr v5 + newest firmware + Direct Connect works perfectly in TrainerRoad).

Anyway, here’s the post from the TR forum:

"I got a response from Wahoo:

“We have fully diagnosed the issue, produced a fix and are currently testing that fix to ensure no undesirable side effects. We should hopefully have a fix released within a month.”"

I have not had problems with any of the past firmware upgrades. Upgraded to v4.2.3 yesterday and the resistance levels were way out today, going down hill -5% gradient and pushing hard on easy gears, going up %10 gradient and spinning out. Will try to rollback as indicated earlier in this thread but very disappointed to have to do this.

I had this issue with 4.2.1and 4.2.2 albeit I am not sure if the latter worked okay until the most recent Zwift update (as I’ve not been using Zwift much of late. I rolled back to 4.1.2 last week I think and this is working fine again (only one ride in though). Its seems very odd as there must be a lot of people with Kickr V5 contacting Wahoo re this.
