I’ve had this happen to me on multiple rides and it’s extremely frustrating.
I have a Zwift Ride and when I shift up or down with the virtual shifters it’s delayed for 1-5 seconds then it shifts from whatever gear I’m in all the way up to 24 or all the way down to 2 or 3. It does that one gear at a time without stopping.
On the same note, the hub then takes about 5 seconds to change the resistance to reflect the new gear.
It’s impossible to ride when I’m in 16 on a flat then hit a 5% grade – when I click once to shift down it goes to gear 3. Then I get to a flat and shift up and it goes to gear 22.
Hello,
I have the same issue with my wahoo core.
Did you solve your problem?
Zwift Hub One and Zwift Ride
I’ve done two rides since reporting this without issue. But it’s been intermittent before and I’ll keep watching to see if it occurs again.
I’ve got the same thing happening. It’s delayed, then jumps 3-6 gears for the one press of the button. Then I shift the other direction, and the same thing. Constantly overshoots both up and down. Anyone know of any fixes? This Zwift Ride/Wahoo combo are brand new. Maybe 4 rides.
Were you able to find a resolution? My Zwift ride is doing the same thing.
I did a 45 minute ride this morning and this issue is STILL HAPPENING. It happened 4-5 times during my ride. It’s extremely frustrating and I’m disappointed to have had no response from Zwift.
Have you emailed support@zwift.com ? If you have, then don’t send them chasing emails because that can put your further back in the queue.
I haven’t. I will do that now. Thanks for the suggestion.
All I did was send a “text” or whatever you all it to their chatbot thing on their page. Didn’t know they even had an email address. But I will now. Thanks for letting me know.
Send the email and wait for them to get back to you. Someone from support also might see your post here and get in touch.
I submitted a support email to Zwift on Jan 16. No response yet.
I did a ride this morning and the issue happened 2-3 times.
Update: I got a response from Zwift support with the suggestion of resetting my preferences by following these steps:
Search for “Zwift resetting your game preferences” and you’ll see the page on Zwift support.
I can’t report success or failure yet because I haven’t had a chance to do a ride. Please share if you try this and your results. I’ll do the same when I can.
RESOLVED: I have done three group rides since following the steps recommended by Zwift support to reset my game preferences.
I can’t paste a link here, but if you search for “Zwift resetting your game preferences” you will see the page on Zwift support. It has two sets of instructions based on the platform. I followed the instructions for the Mac.
Since performing the reset, I have had NO ISSUES with shifting on the Zwift Hub One + Zwift Ride setup. The shifts have been consistent and responsive with no skipping of gears either up or down.

Update: STILL BROKEN
My resolution posted above was short-lived. It’s back to skipping gears and painfully slow response when I click the shift-up or shift-down buttons.
I would not buy the Zwift Ride again based on this experience.
This sounds like it could possibly be caused by Bluetooth dropouts. To offer any suggestions about that it would help to understand what you are running the game on, and if you’re pairing via Companion it would help to know what the Companion device is.
Thanks for looking at this. Here’s my setup:
Trainer: Zwift Hub One + Zwift Ride
Zwift: Zwift software runs on my M1 iMac
Zwift Companion App: Runs on my iPhone
The Zwift software on my Mac pairs with the Zwift Ride and Hub One and the software says “Paired Through Phone on the upper left”
The UI is confusing here. It says “Pair Through Phone”, and that’s a button that you press if you want to pair via your phone (i.e. using Companion).
The pic shows that you’re currently paired through your Mac.
In my experience using a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro, Bluetooth is reliable on it, but since you are using a device that allows you to access the game logs, you should upload a log file to zwiftalizer.com to check for Bluetooth problems. I would also test it by disconnecting any unnecessary devices such as the HRM, or any Bluetooth things unrelated to running Zwift such as headphones, speakers, mouse, keyboard.
If you haven’t done so already, you should check for firmware updates for the Hub and the Ride controls on the Zwift Hardware menu in the Companion app.
You could also try pairing via the phone to see if that is more reliable. When you do that, it uses the phone’s Bluetooth adapter instead of the one in the Mac, and bridges the data to the Mac via your local area network (WiFi or Ethernet)
If you want others here to review your zwiftalizer report, you can hit the share button and post the last part of the URL here. (The forum will probably prevent you from sharing the link, unless you mangle it somehow such as by adding spaces in it.)
