Zwift Ride Virtual Shifters Delayed & Overshooting Gears

I recently bought a Zwift Ride with a Wahoo KICKR Core 2. Everything was working perfectly at first, but over the last few rides I’ve started having issues with the virtual shifters.

When I shift up or down, there’s a delay of about 1–5 seconds, and then it suddenly overshoots the gear change. Instead of moving one gear at a time, it will jump all the way up to gear 24 or all the way down to gear 1. Other times, I’ll press the shifter and nothing happens at all.

I’m connecting via Bluetooth using the Zwift app on a 2020 MacBook Pro with the M1 chip. No other devices are connected at the same time.

Has anyone else experienced this, or found a fix? It was totally fine when I first set everything up, so I’m not sure what changed, but right now it’s basically unrideable.

I had a similar problem (as well as regular dropouts from my trainer), and I think it was down to my AppleTV using a 2.4GHz WiFi connection, and then interfering with Bluetooth devices using the same frequency.

I forced my AppleTV to connect at 5GHz and haven’t had a problem since. It’s not conclusive, but could be worth checking of you’re not using ethernet.

Thanks for the responses. I switched to using pair with phone through the Zwift app instead of pairing via Bluetooth. I tested it on a ride yesterday and didn’t experience any issues during that session.

That said the problem has been intermittent. It has worked perfectly during some sessions and then come back during others, so I’ll keep an eye on it and will update here if the problem comes back.
