So frustrating, zwift hang on the middle of workout and then shut down completely. I’m considering switching back to TrainerRoad.

Although it will run Zwift your hardware is always going to struggle.
A 3rd generation mobile CPU is possibly being pushed to its limits especially in busy areas or Makuri.
I’m a big believer is doing periodic resets of Windows. It gets bogged down over time and a reset helps with Zwift load times.
Also i suspect you are running a mechanical hard drive. The single biggest thing you can do is to switch to a SSD.
The difference is like night and day and will probably stop the issues you have.
Hmm, that is a really slow CPU. Not technically unsupported, but extremely old and weak. I’m sure that less demanding training software would run better on it.
You might try some of the troubleshooting steps mentioned over here, and if you don’t get anywhere with those things, open a support case and ask Zwift to analyze your log files.
I read a review of this laptop and it says it has a mechanical HDD. I agree installing an SSD would be a huge performance upgrade, and they’re super cheap these days. That would be a good opportunity to do a clean install of Windows.
Hi @Lenny_Feb29, thank you for reaching out on our forum.
When you use the Zwift app, certain information gets reported to our servers about your computer. I took a look and it appears that your graphics drivers may be outdated. This could be the cause for the Zwift app hanging.
We have some steps you can take to update your graphics card drivers, as well as some other steps, in our ZwiftApp Crashing guide.
My graphics driver is up to date.
Hi @Sam.W - is there a database of GPU’s vs Zwift firmwares to check known conflicts? Only since last update have I had crashes starting. PC is a Optiplex 9020 tower PC with a Radeon HD 7800 - yep, older tech which (until last updates) had been mega stable and robust. I guess my GPU’s more common in ewaste than running Zwift these days so not a priority or large sample sizes of reported errors, but if there’s a reference of “GPU XYZ will no longer be supported as does not support ABCD” I’ll know if it’s worth investing time in fixing or replacing. Cheers
