Zwift Companion activity not syncing to Apple Health

Today, well, for yesterdays ride, I realize the same!
Where did Strava document this? Is it a bug or a “feature”? Where can we push Strava to change it?

In any case, Zwift should directly send the FIT files to Apple Health itself!

On a possible workaround – just did this for TrainerRoad;-)

  1. From the browser on your iPad, select download activity, open the FIT file, then share with …
  2. Airdrop to your iPhone
  3. On the iPhone, select HealthFit – a cool app for Apple Fitness users anyway – and import the FIT file
  4. HealthFit will automatically put the activity incl. HR (and GPS where available) into Apple Health

Which also shows it is easy enough …

Thanks for this - brilliant tip!

Irritated that Strava just stopped exporting data from third parties to Apple without warning or communication. But even more irritated that using Zwift with a Garmin HRM seems to mean that the workout doesn’t get imported into Apple Health. For all Zwift’s riches, that’s pretty hopeless.

Brilliant tip. I just made it work for a swim on my Garmin via Connect → download → share and open with HealthFit. I use HealthFit for AppleWatch → TrainingPeaks and agree it’s a great app.

This extra manual step is quite frustrating, and I’m not happy with Zwift or Strava, but I’m glad there is an option! Thank you!

Yes, that seems to be the case: My last two activities are visible in Strava, but not in Apple Health and even not in Health Fit. Is there any way to request support from Strava about this? I only found the FAQs there, but no mail address or a support request form there. I beleive if we only report this here it will never be heard.

Strata have washed their hands of it. I contacted them today but they replied to say that third party apps now need to sort out their own Apple Health connectivity.

HealthFit worked for me. Just need to make sure all sharing/integration boxes are “on” and then import the FIT file from Zwift.

I also got this reply very quick after i found the tiny get support link in the Strava Web Application. Zwift is so general in functionality, they will not implement training export to Apple Health anytime soon. As for outdoor rides i use Garmin for which i had to use the HealthFit Workaround then too. This is not cool and i nearly lost an personal continuous activity series record on this. So i begged Strava to bring this back.

What is strange about HealthFit is that previous trainings from Strava were directly visible there, with source Strava, not Apple Health. So the Sync from Strava to HealthFit is also broken now and you need to do the manual export and import limbo to get the training to Apple Health. This is nuts.

As a paying customer of Strava this inconvenience would be a reason to leave this platform or at least to stop paying for their service. Are there different platforms like Strava that integrate Zwift and Garmin Trainings and have Synchronization to Apple Health?

Yup same here, Strava has just killed their external apps, which is annoying as I used them as a source of truth syncing indoor rides from zwift and outdoor rides from garmin, and shuttling everything across. I doubt anyone who is seriously riding uses the Strava app since it’s easier to use a bike head unit which syncs to all your bike sensors.

I’d urge everyone to hit up Strava Support and complain about this, maybe they’ll reconsider if there’s enough outcry

Tested today using Zwift → Strava → RunGap → Apple Health. RunGap seems to gather all the relevant details (including HR, active calories) directly via a Strava sync (no separate export/import required outside of the app). One then can push those data to Apple Health from RunGap.

Only hiccup was that Apple Health already had the ride from Zwift companion, which did not include HR (since they dropped the Apple Watch integration, which was working fine for me until this week). I therefore deleted that workout from Apple Health first prior to exporting to Health from RunGap.

Rungap would be an additional app for me with an additional subscription, as this export to health is not included in the free version. And don’t get me wrong, its ok to pay for an app you need and use, but i already payed for Strava. So i cancelled my subscription now, it was payed ahead until august. Lets see if Apple Health support is back until then…

Sounds like we need to voice our dissatisfaction with strava on their forums and maybe with our wallets.

Just adding that you can get the same result without Strava: just add Zwift as an account within RunGap, and then you can go straight from Zwift to RunGap to Apple Health.

Thanks for the heads up. Had not noticed that Zwift was an option in RunGap. Since I have on-water rowing running through Strava, I figured the simplest setup to avoid duplication seemed the current. Worth a review of the setup again for sure.

Unfortunately Strava now no longer logs 3rd party data into Apple health, so as a Paying subscriber to Strava, I voiced my concern to them that they now provide little value so I terminated my subscription.

Relieved I found this thread as it was driving me nuts yesterday that my Zwift ride wasn’t syncing with Apple Health via Strava. I have cancelled my Strava subscription (expires September) and noted my reason for cancellation - so will see if Strava do an about turn in coming months. Have now downloaded HealthFit and my ride from yesterday is now in Apple Health - so all rings closed! Looks a great app - just need to get my head around it all.

Thanks for the HealthFit tip, just downloaded and it looks a great app.
I’ve also cancelled my Strava subscription and given reason as they no longer sync activities to Apple Health which are recorded via 3rd party platforms.

Maybe someone else has this problem as well. My rides done in Zwift are synced to Strava. From there it goes to Apple Health. This worked absolutely fine until today. Did a ride and a run. Both are in Strava but they are not in Apple Health.
The rides and runs from yesterday backwards are all in Health as well.

If I log an activity directly via Strava it’s synced to Health without any problem. So what’s the matter with Zwift activities?

See this thread which is a few below this one:

Same issue here. Seemingly stopped working with the new update.

  • iOS Companion app for pairing
  • AppleTV for Zwift app
  • Wahoo HR monitor
  • Not using apple watch for HR
  • Wahoo activities still sync to Strava
  • Strava activity no longer shows in Health
  • Strava activities show when started directly from Strava

Ah thanks. Got an answer from Strava as well.

I‘ve idea why they made this step but it s****. Everything was working fine but Strava decided to destroy it, unnecessarily. I should consider to quit my paid Strava account.

Thanks for your help.
