Wahoo Kickr not controlling resistance

Likely not a driver issue as suggested by the official comment because other apps work just fine such as Trainer Road and PerfPro…

I have found closing Zwift and launching the app again once or twice solves it - continuous searching or re-plugging the ANT+ stick won’t do it.

David is correct - You must relaunch the app to wake things up.   I unplug-replug ant+ then relaunch app.  That usually gets me sim mode within 4-5 tries.   IF you don’t get sim mode to start the ride you cannot get it to start mid ride with the current ant+ bug/problem.   If you look at the zwift log file it is not connecting the kickr as a “kickr” in the rides that are not starting correctly so no fiddling with the wahoo app will get sim on.

Now if you get a ride to start in sim mode then it will work as before - For example I got a sim ride started saturday.  Did 1 lap then did a TR erg workout while staying connected to zwift.   After the TR workout I was able to re-initiate Sim mode on the kickr because the active zwift ride still has the kickr recognized as such.

One easy trick is if you connect to zwift and “just ride” without even pedaling you can open the log file and search for kickr.  If you don’t find Kickr in the log file you will not have sim mode.   I don’t even crawl on my bike until I find kickr in the log file.

Same problem garmin GSC10 won’t show up on swift, my heart rate monitor does. Setup , macbook pro, garmin ant+ stick. Thanks for all the work…

Add me…

Zwift has been awesome until the latest update,

Windows7, KICKR and Suunto Mini Move ant+ and now no resistance control?!

Weather was pants today in the UK so a Zwift session was in order but after 3 or 4 tries at getting it working gave up and watched a film whilst using the Wahoo app for a zone 2 session instead!!

i just tried this tip (quoted below) posted at the start of this thread:

“One thing to quickly try in the meantime is unplugging your dongle, then plugging it back in. The ANT+ driver can die and cause the dongle to stop working, but resetting it can solve the issue.”

It did resolved the seemingly intermittent pairing-to-my-kickr bug from a Suunto mini stick.

However, the resistance is still not there as from day zero of the latest update.

Windows 8.1, Kicker, Suunto Mini Stick

I’m seeing two problems… Intermittent ANT+ pairing failures, and complete SIM-mode failure for Kickr.  No amount of resetting, rebooting, Mac, PC, cable, no cable, no wifi, no fan, prefs file removal, priming SIM-mode using BT TR or Wahoo Fitness, etc… will work.  With 3 different ANT+ dongles tested, but they’re all Suunto (but two different hardware revisions).  Has worked since December, albeit with some paring problems in January.   SIM mode works fine with Trainer road on iPhone (BT4) and Wahoo Fitness (BT4), however I haven’t tested TrainerRoad over ANT+ yet.

Just updated to latest release today (1.0.5084) and can report my Kickr is now working again, with expected resistance changes for hills and all Ant+ devices recognised on launching Zwift. Didnt need to do any other work around steps etc…So, Yay! problem seems to be fixed for me!

Still no joy for Mac (1.0.6 - no new S/W version available) - no resistance control for Kickr and had to choose between Ant+ HRM and cadence sensors :(((

Happy to report that I’m back up and running again after the latest update.

UPDATE:

Hi Guys,

Just following on from when I started this thread. Have updated Zwift today and kickr is running on 1.3.8 firmware and everything connected instantly, no drop outs and power reading have been the closest yet to my power meter.

Good to be running the full Zwift experience.

See you on the island!

reviving this thread! i started noticing zwift not controlling my wahoo kickr resistance in the “just ride” sim mode (not the zwift workout mode where you can select erg). resistance doesnt change when climbing hills, etc… i am using a mac and bluetooth 4.0 to connect my wahoo devices: cadence, heart rate, kickr smart trainer. this started happening after a recent zwift software update on my mac! same as over a year ago people on this thread noticed issues after a software update back then. i have a trouble ticket opened with zwift but no new updates in a while so hoping to generate some traffic here.
