Wahoo Kicker connected via Bluetooth, but no Power and No Movement of rider

That’s great news considering how long it’s been down. I raised my ticket Friday evening and not heard anything but to be fair my dealings with them have always been positive here in the UK-
1/Snap bought Nov 2022- the roller had a hideous out of balance to it- like a spinning top on it’s side- sent photos and video and they sent out a new unit to be bolted to the frame (Sold the SNAP as I’d caught the bug and upgraded to V5).
2/Direct Connect- got one from CRC/Wiggle (£50) just as they introduced the “race mode”…unit turned up and was dead, contacted Wahoo as Wiggle CRC were out of stock anyway and Wahoo sent me a new one.
3/ Steer- as a former RGT (RIP) user I bought this a year ago. They killed RGT, it now “holds gels” for longer 100km+ rides…cannot be refunded even though they made it useless.
4/ Kickr V5 bought December 2022…

This is in little over a year mind, and my subscription for SYSTM is up for renewal in 6 weeks… I used to hate Zwift but now I really like it, it just works for me all the time and no glitches ever coupled with a decent PC built on advice from the excellent “ZPCMR” on Facebook I’m (usually, unless CPU bound on pacer rides) getting solid 60FPS on Ultra/4K… The last “Zwiftalizer” log I took before my unit died was showing some horrendous “TCP network disconnects” and I’m certain this was the trainer gasping it’s last dying breaths. There is clearly a problem going on here with the V5 and I hope they resolve everyone’s issues asap.
So on a plus side did you get to keep the PSU and the unit? Might come in handy for other spares in the future lol…

Been in touch with Wahoo Support and have finally had feedback from Wahoo. I have the same outcome as Jeff. (Picture of the Severed Power Cord / Serial number.)

Then they will schedule the shipping of a Refurbished Wahoo Kickr as a replacement.

They have provided some links to dispose of the old device in an environmentally preferred method

My certified refurbished V5 arrived today. Will be setting it up tomorrow.

I am the same reconnected after being injured few months and no power or cadence on wahoo Kickr. Can’t do spin down as it’s not picking up the power.
My lights are blue and red. I thought one of them should be green?

I have the same exact issue but with the zwift hub one. I don’t know what to do.

Raise a support request with Wahoo and start the process to get it fixed/replaced. I think they will only do this is you are the original owner having bought it from an approved reseller

Your Kickr Symptoms are exactly the same as mine. i connected with the Wahoo App aswell. No Power, No Cadence. The app did show some speed for me.

Wahoo will ask for information to proof ownership, serial number picture, invoice, Video of it running etc firmware version etc

@Nejc_Zakersnik Not sure about the Zwift Hub One.

Get in touch with the support folks. This is a small world and bad press is not a good look

I could be the same root cause. The zwift hub one uses the same type of technology and electronics.

Set it up last night and tested. Back in business!

Hello folks.

I have the same issue, innitially the Kicker starts but after few spins, it lost connection, no power, no speed, rider on screen stay put

Bought Wahoo through Zwift sale with 1 year sub, out of the box it wasn’t working, it’s crazy

I have a courier tracking number for my replacement/refurbished Wahoo Kickr.

Looking good for getting back on the bike

The support process works. If you have this issue get in touch with Wahoo Support. They will require some testing and documentation. But that is a small price to pay for a replacement trainer

Add me to the list of people affected by this. I am already in the support process and waiting for a tracking number for my replacement after showing evidence of cutting the power cord.

It’s odd that the timing for everyone is so similar…

My replacement arrived this morning.
Have swapped the cassette to match my bikes gears and gave it a quick test

Looks good. Need to give it a longer test later.

It is a bit of a coincidence. New Year and so many failures

My last firmware update was a long time ago and I don’t think there was any update recently

If it is being zapped by static electricity. I not sure how that is happening. My environment is void of anything that would create a problem. Trainer and Bike are in a rubber mat aswell

Add me to the list too. I just reached out to customer service. The Kickr is only 2 years old.

@Andrew_P1 Same for me - my Kickr sits directly on my basement (concrete) floor.

Hi All. I have experienced same issue no power or cadence done all the reboot stuff no joy. Kicker bought late December 2020 worked great till now. I opened a ticket with wahoo and now they are offering a refurbished kicker but i put up $650 deposit of which $250 replacement cost + $40 shipping will be deducted when they recieve the faulty one back. I’m in Austin TX. Is thst the same deal others had when they recieved a replacement?

Thanks Ross

No. This discussion is clear to me that there is an inherent design problem with the Wahoo Kickr and it looks like the original ESD issue. At lease 26+ people in this discussion have had the issue

I can’t make out if you have given them money or not. But don’t if you have then try to get it back

The Wahoo CEO Chip Hawkin said they would do the right thing when this happened before

Thanks for replying. I have not paid anything to them yet but wahoo says that is the best they can do. I mentioned Zwift blog to them and that others did not appear to have to pay for refurbished kicker but not got a response from them. I just wanted to clarify others were not charged.

I didn’t think anyone in this discussion had been charged anything for a replacement because of this issue

i know if you have bought the device second hand (ebay, etc) they would not get involved. It had to have been bought direct or via a reseller.

I would personally try the twitter/facebook route.

I have in the past emailed the CEO of a company and nicely explained the situation.

  • What the issue is
  • This discussion. past Youtube etc
  • How you would like it to be resolved

There is some useful guidance about contacting CEOs in this…
