Video Screenshots not working on PC [8GB RAM]

My video screenshots have a bug. After every ride, they get turned off, and I have to go back into settings to turn it back on for another ride. Also, the video clip does not upload to Zwift activity or Strava.

Hi @Michael_Ashton, welcome to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

It sounds like a hassle to have to turn the feature back on after every ride and not see your video clip uploaded to your Zwift activity or Strava.

I’ve reviewed the logs, and your CPU, Intel(R) Core™ i5-10300H, is compatible with the video screenshot feature (it’s supported for Intel Core i5, 9th Generation, and newer). Based on this article.

However, I noticed some patterns in the log files that indicate the feature might be turned off automatically after each ride:

  • [VIDEO_CAPTURE] Changing default enablement from true to false
  • [VIDEO_CAPTURE] forcing player setting to OFF

I noticed that you recently updated to version 1.86.0 on March 14, 2025, but this sounds like a recent issue from your side. Can you confirm when the issue started?

In the meantime, can you try a clean, fresh installation of the Zwift app? This can help resolve any potential glitches or file conflicts.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Uninstall the Zwift app from your PC. Here are the steps in more detail.
  2. Clear any Zwift-related temporary files or cache.
  3. Download the latest version of Zwift from the official site and reinstall it.

Once you’ve reinstalled, test the feature again to see if the issue persists. If it does, let us know.

Hi @Michael_Ashton
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I peeked at your server logs. It’s because your PC is at the minimum threshold at 8 GB of RAM.

Starting with game version 1.86, we disabled Video Screenshots to Off in your settings menu on Windows machines with 8GB RAM or less. Video Screenshots has the potential to cause much more problematic issues, like freezes and crashes.

Is your PC the type with a socket that makes inexpensive RAM upgrades easy? Or is it the type of motherboard where the RAM is soldered in place and not upgradeable?

The update notes say less than 8gb, not 8gb or less? Less than 8gb fundamentally likely means 6gb or less, doesn’t it?

Why would you keep turning it off for us, when we can turn it on before each ride and it works?

Please keep it turned on when I select that I want it on.
