Training Plan Timing Flexibility

I am on the east coast and can’t start Monday or morning workouts until after 9AM EST. Not sure if they realize that people work and we are paying them for convenience? I have contacted Zwift customer service a couple times about this. Seeing this string this is a concern for many and has been for some time. They have done nothing about it… disappointing to say the least. I gave them a last message today, but will likely use one of the many other services available going forward.

So here we are in 2022 still adding to a thread started in 2019 about why the lack of flexibility in training plans is a problem. 81 posts in this thread and 155 votes. I suppose that’s a small fraction of zwift users but I bet its a significant amount of forum activity. What is the problem here? I think there are three features that would go a long way to addressing people’s issues: a) ability to choose the start date for the “week” b) ability to pause a plan c) ability to set the week back to wherever we want.

Please see this thread, changes have recently been made.

Yes, I’m aware of that and I’m using it this week because its a ‘rest’ week in the plan I’m on but I’m looking for more than that since the prior week wasn’t a a big week for me. I still have the training plan active (maybe I should cancel it) so picking things from a prior week isn’t straightforward. In order to do this I click training which brings up a screen that shows me where I am in the workout and the other weeks locked down. Then I click back which shows me workouts and training plans. I select “workout”, find the plan I’m working on in the list and then I can expand the week I want to select the workout. The workouts are nicely marked with the dates they were done.Took me a while to figure this out. It would be much simpler if when I sign in and I choose to do a workout, I could just select the one I want (I can see it there but its marked unavailable because the time window has closed).

yeah, you’ll need to use the “workout” menu/list rather than through the training plan if you want to go back and do one that you missed. Sounds like the next update in a few weeks will also allow you to choose workouts in the plan from a week or 2 prior if you missed them. See the posts further down in that same thread I linked above.

In all seriousness, if the workout section of Zwift operated just like TrainerRoad, with the ability to schedule vacation, A/B events and races IRL and train AROUND those, periodizing the training over 6 wk increments, I wouldn’t need a dual membership to Zwift and TrainerRoad. TR is absolutely dialed, but it’s literally boring without some additional form of entertainment (e.g. running Zwift simultaneously). If Zwift could close the feature gaps with TR or buy them, Zwift would reach new heights. With all of the rich and consistent physiological data you would have on people, you could start recommending fueling and diet requirements that match the workout plans. That’s something TR is not doing that would be super valuable.

Does anyone know this?
If I start a workout before 11:59 pm, but it will end just after 12 am, and it is my last day of the workout, will it count in this week?

I don’t know … but I know it doesn’t matter.

Your body doesn’t care about weeks.
