Of ALL the features pumped and touted by Zwift, the ability to motivate, encourage, and engage is the simple ‘Ride On’ feature.
However, when received, it’s SO clumsy to reciprocate. It was SUPPOSED to be a feature in the older ‘Play’ controllers. That’s exactly why I had purchased them over a year ago. (That worked intermittent for me).
I’ve since purchased the Ride Frame and controllers. Yes, it has a ‘Ride On’ bomb button (Z) and I use it all the time.
BUT… it does nothing to reciprocate an individual Ride On. Unaffected.
You all know how taxing it is while working out to struggle with the Companion App OR a laptop to find the person and deliver a reciprocate. I’m shaking and moving.
As Hans noted, a quick press of the Z button returns a Ride on to someone who gave you one.
A press and hold is sends a Ride on Bomb. Someone does not need to send you one first in this usage.
Right. That’s what it is SUPPOSED to do. I have not beeen so lucky.
I will try again tomorrow and report back. I hope I am wrong. This hasn’t been working for me on the Ride controllers. (Someone on Reddit also remarked about this.)
Agreed. It worked on my Play controllers last spring, but stopped working sometime over the summer – perhaps with a recent firmware update? – and now the Z button will only give RO bombings. Returning single ROs is a function I’ve missed often this fall.
@shooj it would be nice if we could use the controllers to send a ride on when the thumb icon shows up next to the rider list (like for PRs and workout completions).
@shooj So I CONFIRMED this morning: The single press does NOT return any ‘Ride On’.
I waited for 4-5 opportunities as they were noted on the upper HUD, and when I tapped the button, No haptic vibration or anything signaling a return. (Like it used to, and may still do on the ‘Play’ controllers.)
I then visited that rider and the ‘Ride On’ are was not greyed out (Had it been delivered.)
I think these are separate issues. I have the play controllers and while the message no longer appears on screen if i quick press the z button i do get haptic feedback and ive noticed it does still return a ride on. The OP is saying the ride frame controllers arent doing that. Must be on a different version of firmware?
