Are you running the latest Polar firmware? There are many reports like Richard’s, though it sounds like he already tried the workaround discussed in this one: Polar H9/H10 no signal
If you haven’t updated the firmware, think twice (or more) about doing that.
Thank you for the replies. I have not updated the firmware but it might already have the latest being a new H10 out of the box?
I am running Windows 10 on my laptop. I have just tried making sure it wasn’t a conflict issue between the internal bluetooth and the external USB bluetooth I use so have disabled the internal bluetooth (including within the bios) and this time it connected for around 10 seconds showing HR and then dropped and will not reconnect. I assume this is related to the aforementioned encryption regulations? Does this mean we are waiting for a solution from Zwift?
I can try the companion app again. This is what I used to use before I got the USB bluetooth but found it was a laggy response, such as on a training plan on ERG it was much slower for the turbo to react than when I used the USB bluetooth dongle. This was a few years ago though so might be better now?
I have just tried using my Garmin Forerunner watch as a bridge, connecting the HR strap as normal to it and then setting it to broadcast. The HR shown on Zwift using the Forerunner matches the HR shown on the bike computer, so it looks like the Garmin watches can function as a bridging device. This is a temporary solution at least.
Thanks for the help, and still interested to hear about the companion app query I had in my last posting.
Are you running the latest H10 firmware? The problem isn’t the HRM, it’s the recent firmware changes that trigger Bluetooth encryption, and it seems that it works OK for some people and not others, but I’m not sure exactly why that is.
There an app? Does it actually update the device or do anything useful?
But I’ve also noticed a recent change in connection. Seems bluetooth option appears but no actual data… (zero heartbeat)? However, I can connect reliably through a hardware connection. It just shows the little trainer icon. I use the latest Wahoo Pro bike but no hardware bridge. I also have a Headwind fan that works fine on heartrate mode, but I actually don’t know how it’s connected to the P10.
When using Polar HRMs with latest firmware with Zwift on Windows, the following had to be done to make sure HRM pairs with Zwift properly:
Make sure to install Polar Flow on mobile phone, connect and register HRM
In HRM settings (at least this is how it works on H10 and Verity Sense) - enable dual Bluetooth - this is required since one BLE channel is needed for Windows connection.
Pair HRM with Windows itself
Start Zwift and then pair there
Should work. I have both H10 and Verity Sense and that’s what was required for both since last firmware update.
Resetting the heart rate sensor clears the sensor memory and resets the sensor to factory settings. Resetting can be used as a troubleshooting method, if the sensor is not working as it should. Reset the sensor also if you are planning to sell it.
Sensor pairing with a Polar or third-party device or app is required after a reset, update, or battery replacement if you are using a firmware version earlier than 3.3.1 for H10 and 1.2.1 for H9.
Update:
Resetting didn’t work.
Works on iPhone, iPad, macbook. Does not work on AppleTV anymore. When bridging trough iPhone to AppleTV it does work. (But this has the downside of it losing connection when not having Companion app open as first app whole time).
This morning I had no data from my Polar heart rate monitor just like everyone else here. Two days ago it was fine. The Polar H10 works with my phone and works with other programs such as Training Peaks Virtual on my Windows computer. It just doesn’t work with Zwift. This has to be more of a Zwift glitch.
If you have the new update, you will need to consent to HR data first, it might not show up as usual on the pairing screen so make sure to check the “recommended” and “all” sections when pairing your HRM.
