New UI isnt too shabby, once you familiarize yourself with the layout of things.
Some very nice improvements over the old UI, like access to the Garage, even though it doesnt feel like an integrated part of the new UI yet. Same goes for the Workout section.
I do feel that I have to scroll a bit too much though. That while seeing quite a bit of unused space next to “Upcoming events”. It might just be due to scaling, not sure about this yet.
Still some stuff missing, such as Goals. I really like seeing my monthly kilometers or my weekly hours.
I would also very much like to have access to my previous best power data, including those from my last ride. Very much like on the Menu screen.
Would also be nice to have access to details about latest event. Results, power and HR data, etc. Much like we have on the Companion App or our feed on zwift.com.
The icons at the top are a bit small. They could easily be a bit bigger, especially wider to make their use more clear.
As for the Exit, then it would be nice to not have to click twice. When we click the X on a Windows application, it closes without asking (unless there is something to save). Why we have to verify that we want to exit is puzzling. Perhaps a “Do now show this again”-checkbox.
Has anyone found a way to join a pace partner but also select a route? I want to be able to ride with a pace partner but get the achievement award for the route?
In the old UI this was done by selecting a route then joining the pace partner but that doesn’t appear to be possible in the new UI.
The new UI was bestowed upon me yesterday.
Positives:
- It’s nice being able to access your garage, settings, and achievements without starting a ride.
- Event selection UI is improved.
- No more need for worldhacking.
Negatives:
- In the old UI, everything was accessible from one screen without any scrolling. That was nice.
- Event selection UI is improved but unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t show what route the event is on, and if it’s a timed event you don’t even get the distance and elevation for the route… so you really still need to use Companion to find and join events.
- Explore Routes screen doesn’t save your “Sort By” preference anymore.
- When you click on a route, the “zooming out on the map” thing is unnecessary. Also, with some of the longer routes, you can’t see the entire route.
- You can choose any world/route after selecting a workout, you should be able to choose any world/route from the Explore Routes screen as well.
- My bike is kind of far from my TV, so I set my Home Screen Scaling to extra large so I can see the settings screen during a ride. The new home screen layout doesn’t look good at this zoom level and you have to scroll sideways to get to some things.
I have not found where to “Ride with Pace Partners” yet in the new UI?
Click pace partners, then a list of pace partners that you can join will come up. You can then click on whichever one you want to ride with.
In my opinion the second row should look something like this:
That would give an nice quick view of the main selections then you could still have highlighted routes and workouts below.
This was never possible. Pace partners are on a set route for a couple of days and then they switch to another route and so forth. You where never able too choose whatever route and ride with a pace partner there.
Is the new ui going to be on atv
Kind of annoying how we’re having largely the same discussions about look, feel and features (missing or otherwise) from a new set of people.
What was the point of a slow rollout if not to address the issues before it gets to everyone?
Can’t say I didn’t warn them:
Bug report: the sun explodes on the events screen.
Goes back to normal on the other tabs. Explodes again on the events screen.
Looks great - thank you.
Much clearer and being able to get to the garage etc without starting a ride just makes a lot more sense.
Indeed.
But I get the impression that the point was to make sure it didn’t crash or otherwise have severe problems on the large array of different configurations of PCs/Macs, rather having anything to do with how well everyone got on with the new UI.
I thought it was a volcanic eruption.
Both are catastrophic disasters.
Watched a couple of short races on pc with new UI, but raced on my android mobile with old UI this afternoon, so still not done enough to judge the new.
Unsure if related to the rollout (or the exploding sun) but I’m getting regular stuttering on the game for the last two rides - Crit City and Watopia. Constant 100fps on adaptive sync display, so it’s not a frame rate issue. Happens whether it’s busy or quiet.
Previous ride on Innsbruck was perfect.
Confirmed for macOS as well. Radeon RX580 GPU.
(exploding sun issue).
However it’s lower priority for me than adding back missing functions (note to Zwift).
They should be able to work on more than one thing at once.
Is anyone else seeing the Eye of Sauron?
@Dave_ZPCMR
Is this repeatable after the usual reboot / relaunch Zwift?
