Agreed with this. Harms the graphics experience for those of us who have invested time and money specifically to get better graphics. Also ruined the ghost power up - at the very least, make it (and fire socks) not display when using the ghost. I had a race this week where everyone ended up using the ghost and not attacking just to get rid of the thing and hope for a better PU next time.
Wes was let go 2 years ago⌠donât think he will be responding, and certainly not responsible for these changes.
Which bright spark thought it was sensible to remove a perfectly good function?
Without the scaling you have imposed in v1.64 I could move to Pluto and still see the icons on my desktop! Literally 1 icon fits on the screen at a time.
Please bring back the 1.63 scaling option.
@shooj Fan View is not working. Windows PC, Apple iPhone Companion app. I was attempting to watch a rider who was in Makuri Islands. I tried from Watopia, then I got into Makuri Islands using a workout, but it still didnât work from there. The riders I tried to fan view were in an event, a race, and I was in a free ride.
You are spot-on about this change. When I fired-up Zwift last night (after the 1.64 update) I knew that looked odd but didnât think much of it until after my ride. I thought âwhoa, I donât like this at all as it really looks strange with all the extra screen space on either side and the super large cardsâ. Let this be configurable.
Fan viewing from a different map is not supposed to work, but it should work from the same map. I checked the logs, and it looks like the person you tried to fan view was having intermittent network issues at the time. Are you still having issues with that?
True. I shouldnât have bothered trying from Watopia. So I later tried from the same world, and it wouldnât work for the two riders I attempted to fan view, who were in the same event. Sjors has been saying he has internet issues lately, so that makes sense. But Eltjo didnât work either. And for the last ten minutes I tried, the Fan View button no longer appeared in their profile, even while I was in the same world, and thatâs true for both of them. Maybe both had internet problems. I will try again and update you here.
Totally agree. I use a 65" 4k TV and now everything is ridiculously big.
Why remove something that worked well?
I think we can forget about this being an issue. I just had a second Zwift update come through (the second time it updated today, which is odd) and fan view appears to be working. Something was definitely wrong before this second update, because even when I clicked the names of people riding around me before, it wouldnât fan view. But I think weâre all good.
did you exit the workout as you canât fanview from within a workout.
Iâve just been in makuri and using fanview.
I probably did that wrong too. I started a workout to get into the world, then hit tab to skip all intervals, but it still showed like an infinite amount of time remaining, and the intervals still on-screen. Maybe thatâs why when I clicked other riders names around me, it wouldnât fan view. But as I mentioned, I think everythingâs working now.
If that was the reason, consider making a custom workout that only contains a 10 second free ride segment so it will simply end without taking any action.
yeah not sure what is going on with infinite time iâve found the same problem itâs a bug you can either make a super short segment and pedal.
Or if you are on PC, zwift preferneces is usually what i use zwift-preferences â ZwiftHacks
or meetupâŚbut come on zwith itâs 2024 gives us a better way to fan view rather than bodges and workarounds.
Oh, I thought the My List was like a favourites list. But the routes and workouts disappear once youâve done them?
I canât really see any reason why I would use this feature if thatâs the case. I hope somebody else finds it useful though.
Iâll just put in a request for a favourites list then. Your favourite routes, workouts, pace partners that is at the top of the home screen and doesnât go away after youâve done them so you donât have to scroll around all over the home screen to get to them.
Maybe a little star (to indicate favourite) next to the item in the Companion app when you set up the list so they donât get deleted from the list once done.
Seconded. I donât churn through different workouts, I have a set of custom workouts that I repeat, and a couple pace partners that I ride with regularly for base. A list that deletes what I added after I do it once is of no use to me.
There should be a check box option for anything added to My List to make it âstickyâ.
Yeah. Some way to pin a favourite to âFor youâ, whether thatâs via âMy listâ or something else.
Iâd probably pin Tempus Fugit and Miguel/Maria right now.
As if UI/UX design decisions within Zwift cannot get anymore tragic, they continue to deliver. Display scaling is one of the best features that we had to improve efficiency of an already abysmal home screen design since that âupdateâ occured a couple of years ago. Itâs bad enough that we have to deal with a large number of tiles - it didnât work well with Windows 8, and it doesnât work well now.
At least those of us who had a large, hi-resolution display once had the option to scale everything down so that we could see all of the tiles on one screen. Now we are left at the mercy of Companion nonsense because Zwift is well aware that the home screen design is inefficient, so that we can âpre-configureâ our options and join directly into the ZwiftApp.
It was bad enough when this new home screen was designed that the âRide Withâ feature that existed since Jarvis was mysteriously missing - but not so mysteriously, because design decisions Zwift makes are never that well thought out. This is the message resonating with us, your loyal customers, and your software development, Quality Assurance processes (or lack thereof) and overall vastness of your defect library is frequently bantered about in group rides. Yet, we continue to accept it. We love what this platform has to offer, a fun, engaging and socially-interactive environment for us to use rather than just stare at a wall riding on rollers all day.
But now that I have extreme zoom mode, having previously set scaling to the smallest possible, I have to scroll through a lot of the User Interface which I could otherwise just glance at before. This unnecessarily consumes time that we could be using navigating the home screen and selecting the option which is right for us in that moment.
Itâs just another step forward and a few steps back, as with any update we have received lately. At least the rubberbanding performance is improved, Iâll give Zwift credit for that.
My passionate wish as a UI/UX veteran in the mobile industry since 2007 is simple: stop making detrimental design decisions - use your head for a change. Among other things include replacing the checkered flag in the progress bar a couple of versions ago with something that looks like a hatchet or ribbon or something, which I have legitimately seen a question from a newer rider about what it means. If these detrimental changes persist, then I will continue my passion to hold that whoever is responsible for these design decisions be released in the next round of reductions, and may they never land any roles of responsibility for software development for the rest of their lives.
Any chance of adding climb portals to my list? Iâve got every badge, I donât do workouts but I know I have to do Aspin, Fuji and the unreleased portals to be 100% complete. Be cool to have some use for it!
