Is anyone happy with their Zwift Play controllers?e

Don’t look for errors in the antenna. Mostly every device has sufficient BT signal.

  1. Look for a device that disturbs your surroundings. This is the most common cause of your poor BT connection. Even a poor quality BT mouse can disrupt the entire network including WIFI.
  2. Alternatively, look for another receiver that wants to connect alternately with another one.

I suspect that a significant number of the people (not all) with Zwift Play issues have sweat ingress problems on the controllers.

The latest firmware update has eliminated all my drop out issues.
No drop outs on the last three rides using them and that is on two different laptops both using internal bluetooth.
before this firmware update i’d get drop outs every 30 seconds to a minute using internal bluetooth.

Mine I think are affected by BT signal, when I paired with the MacBook Air 15” they worked perfectly. I suspect if I could move the Mac Pro desktop (the 5,1 model) closer to the controllers it would also work better.

Problem is that machine is very big and I can’t turn it around from where it is and the Bluetooth antenna is at the back of it in the worst place. It does have updated modern Bluetooth and wifi, but the antenna is still the original inbuilt one.

I really love my play controllers now that I’ve upgraded my Bluetooth on my computer. In beginning when maybe trying to frantically change to higher or lower gear and a bit unsure of which side to press I occasionally found I was pressing in (towards the center) but not on the gear change control but on the brakes LOL! Not so good when you are frantically trying to get into a gear to stay with the group but you end up hitting the brakes instead! I do wish I could reassign which controller shifts up and which shifts down.

As for any Windows user with disconnecting issues you might want to try the following. (YMMV but worked for me.)

I had terrible frequent disconnection issues with my play controllers but I wondered if the USB receiver in my computer might not as capable as what the Play controllers use. I purchased the following and after installing and many rides and miles later I have not had a single disconnect since. I had Bluetooth 4.x in the PC at it came from the manufacturer but now with this I have Bluetooth 5.3. It says it’s for Windows so I don’t have a similar answer for Mac users.

TP-Link USB Bluetooth Adapter Bluetooth 5.0/5.3 Dongle Receiver (UB500)
Follow installation instructions and disable existing internal Bluetooth function before attaching and installing UB500 and downloading/installing their driver software for the device.

I can’t insert url’s but it seems you can go to Amazon and search for: B09DMP6T22

Hope this is helpful for others.
