Ive been running on my Horizon 7.4AT treadmill for a few years now with no issues. Recently ive noticed my character has been just sitting on the starting line with a connection failure warning in the box where my heart rate would usually be displayed. I have tried disconnecting everything from my treadmill, reinstalling Zwift, restarting my treadmill, and even used the garbage AFG Pro app to verify that my treadmill is connecting to my tablet and relaying the proper speeds and settings. Yet even after all that Zwift still will not connect as it did just a week or so ago. If anyone has any information on what i need to do to get my treadmill and zwift communicating again id appreciate it.
I have the same treadmill. I haven’t ran on it for a couple weeks, so I don’t know if something has changed. I will let you know.
If you can’t get it to work, have you tried using your Garmin watch ( if you have one). Just select virtual run, Not near as accurate, but might make it possible to Zwift
Have you tried using a different device? I have the same treadmill and sometimes it doesn’t like my Samsung tablet.
I have a garmin watch but i didnt know it had a virtual run option. Ill play with it in a minute.
Ive tried it on my phone with the same results.
Select virtual run on your watch. I think treadmill will do it as well. When pairing on Zwift, select your watch as power source, and heartrate. When you start Zwifting, get your treadmill going. It will use the accelerometer on your watch. You need to keep your arms going in a fluid motion. Once you are done your activity, you can calibrate your watch. As long as you keep running at a similar pace, you can get it fairly accurate
Looks like i have a new toy to play with tomorrow . Im curious to see if it works with my training programs.
I too am having the same problem on my Horizon 7.4 right now. I was hoping to run after like 10 days of inactivity and my avatar isn’t going anywhere. Same connection failure message. I’m hoping its some kind of software issue that can get patched. Bummer!
I’ve had the QZ app but never really used it. I just tried it and it works well with Zwift! Id load the QZ program first, load up zwift, select something like “kickr tread” for the treadmill, and now my avatar moves with my Horizon 7.4. Im still trying to troubleshoot issues like how it is necessary to start/end the run on QZ and not on the treadmill but this workaround to the original problem is fine for now. I hope whatever is going on will be patched soon.
@Aaron_Ly @Sazumi_Lee
I tried my 7.4 this morning. My dude just stood there (come on let’s go). Said connection error in the top corner as well. I don’t understand, the treadmill has always worked, until now. Hopefully Zwift can figure out what they did this time.
I had to abort, re paired Zwift using my Garmin forerunner for controller (run speed)
I wonder if there’s any chance it’s related to Horizon firmware version as discussed previously…
For Horizon’s 7.4 AT Users FYI - Keep Firmware Version 5.001 - Running - Zwift Forums
Hi @Sazumi_Lee. Jose here from Zwift.
let’s see if we can get your Horizon 7.4AT treadmill and Zwift communicating again. Here are some additional steps and tips that might help resolve the issue:
- Check Bluetooth Connections:
- Ensure that your treadmill is not connected to any other devices or apps (like the AFG Pro app) while trying to pair with Zwift. Close all other apps that might be using the treadmill’s Bluetooth connection.
- Restart your tablet and ensure Bluetooth is enabled and ready to pair.
- Verify Zwift Settings:
- Open Zwift and make sure you’re in the RUN section, not the RIDE section, when pairing your treadmill.
- On the pairing screen, select the treadmill icon and look for your Horizon 7.4AT in the list of available devices.
- Update Firmware and Apps:
- Check if your treadmill’s firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates on the Horizon Fitness website or through their support team.
- Ensure that Zwift is updated to the latest version on your tablet.
- Calibrate Your Treadmill:
- Some users have reported that recalibrating their treadmill can resolve connection issues. Refer to your treadmill’s manual for instructions on how to perform a calibration.
- Test with Another Device:
- If possible, try connecting your treadmill to Zwift using a different device (e.g., another tablet or phone) to rule out any device-specific issues.
- Reset Bluetooth Module:
- On some Horizon treadmills, you can reset the Bluetooth module by turning the treadmill off, unplugging it for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. This can sometimes resolve pairing issues.
Hope these steps can help you!
Everything is up to date. I tried two different devices this morning. (My tablet s6 lite, and my Samsung s23ultra). I have used both devices in the past. I’m going to say, it’s a Zwift problem. The treadmill will not(it can’t) auto update. So that hasn’t changed.
I have ensured all devices are up to date. I have ensured Zwift is the only application running on my device. I have ensured my treadmills bluetooth has been reset. I have ensured the bluetooth connection icon on my treadmill only lights up when i connect to my tablet. And still it will not display run speed. I have performed the same tests on multiple devices. No device I own that has the capabilitiy to connect to zwift is working with my treadmill. My treadmill will gladly connect to other applications and will transmit running speed data without issues but it will not transmit running data on Zwift.
So the garmin virtual run thing works like a charm. I am able to continue my running program and use my watch as a speed and cadence sensor. I still like the treadmill connection better as my watch religiously either over paces or under paces me by a half mile depending on my pace when compairing it to my treadmill mileage. Zwift and treadmill mileage were usually spot on when they were playing nice together but this is a fantastic work around for the moment and whovknows if I can get the zwift calibration procedure to work properly it may become standard. Thank you soo much for letting me know my watch even had this as an option. It definately should be advertised more both on zwift and garmins end.
Once again thank you.
If you have a garmin there is a Virtual Run exercise tucked away in the add exercise menu at the verry bottom of your favorites. I dont know if its on all garmins but my epix gen2(standard) has it and it works pretty well. It has some quirks but they might work themselves out in time and it gets you back in the game. I just started playing with it yesterday so im not an expert by any means.
My firmware had not changed. I was on firmware 4.002 when it was working and 4.002 when it stopped working. I find it odd that the system worked fine for years then all the sudden stopped shortly after a Zwift auto update.
The nice thing about using your garmin is. As long as you have Zwift on your phone/tablet. That you travel with. You can use any treadmill. (Like a hotel gym).
I didnt think of that. Thats awesome! You could probably even use this on those unpowered treadmills as well.
Ive been noticing that i have to connect my garmin to Zwift in a verry specific order where I close Zwift, open a fresh instance, start my virtuan run, then immediately try and connect to my watch. Its a bit fiddly and will take a bit to get used to bit its an extremely powerful opinion.
I’m having the same issue on my 7.8AT. I really don’t want to go back to using my foot pod thingy, that thing stinks. lol This all stopped working after the latest update. I’ve tried all the things mentioned to try and get it to work again, but still nothing.
