Hello. I am another user being plagued by the ‘no signal’ issues for my Garmin HRM but also occasionally with my smart trainer.
My setup is windows 10 laptop, android phone running companion app, elite direto trainer, garmin hrm dual.
My HR strap worked with no issues on ANT until recently when it all of a sudden started to have the no signal problem. Because I have suffered trainer dropout as well I have been swapping between using ANT and BLE to try to find a combo that works and I am yet to find one. If I use ANT everything connects fine first time and then as soon as I go into a ride I have a zero HR reading, opening the pair window shows no signal under HRM, despite it being connected and giving a reading. Strangely I cannot switch to Bluetooth because even though it appears it immediately says no signal if I try to switch to it.
Unfortunately I have also been having this issue with my smart trainer. It appears to all connect fine via ANT and then periodically drops out. When going into the pair screen you can see it is all connected fine then suddenly all 3 trainer windows will simultaneously flicker onto no signal, then back to working again.
I’m stumped and have tried most of the solutions listed with no definitive solution that always works. It’s hard to say what the issue is but it’s clear that it’s still affecting many users.
I’ve been having the same problem with connecting my Garmin HDR dual but no data being sent or sometimes not even connecting at all. I’ve tried all these different ideas of changing the the wiffi output ect. I have had both connected to my laptop and iPhone 11 in the end I’ve turned my iPhone off and all of a sudden my HDR started working on the laptop( Mac book pro). Annoyingly still can’t get it to work through my iPhone it’s not ideal but has eased the pain for a while.
I also had problems with Garmin Dual HRM with BT , connected to Win10 PC , signal drops continiusly during workout , HR also cuts at a certain levels . Using Wahoo Kickr with BT and power also drops to 0 time to time, Power and cadens also goes crasy during workout .
All these problems with BT were solved by an investment of an ANT+ dongle , about €50 . This is a nice price to get rid of all those BT problems and a lot of frustration ,
Solved? Is the only solution to to use an old version of iOS? That hardley sounds solved to me. I use my iphone for the entiriety of my zwifting. It connects fine to my saris h3 and my giant crank based power meter. It connects to my garmin dual HRM, but there is no signal, it does the same when i try to connect it to strava. I know the HRM woks because it connects to my garmin edge with no problem eveytime over ANT+. Since I’m using my iphone, bluetooth is my only option, and i dont want to use an older version of iOS.
If you open up a different app on your iPhone (e.g., Strava), does the HRM connect and work normally? If so, then that would eliminate your phone and iOS as being the source of the problem. Then you know it’s likely a Zwift problem
In strava, I get the same issue, connects but no signal. I have not tried it with mac or pc via bluetooth though. It works fine with ANT+ and my Edge 530 though. I reached out to garmin and they said they would let their team know the issue…
I have this problem on my Windows 10 with Bluetooth and Garmin Hrm dual. If I connect through the Android companion app it works. I am pretty sure it’s a problem with Zwift on how it reacts when a Bluetooth pulse device sends more data than just pulse. The Hrm Dual sends other data, like its estimated step cadence too, and I think this has not been tested by the Zwift developers.
Interesting idea!
I used and tested different HR devices, had never any issues. But I was never testing Garmin. Are you sure it transmits more than HR only?
Hi, so is the factory reset the only way to make it work again? I’m having the same issue with my iPhone 12 only. My Mac is working, my wife iPad is working, only my iPhone that connect to the HRM but show 0 bmp in Zwift and in other apps on my iPhone. Just done an ios update but same trouble.
Hi, seems like it’s not just me. I have a brand new garmin Dual, worked a few times on zwift but now just connects and says no signal. Using an iPhone X. Made sure the strap is on properly, pads wet, no other HRMs interfering. Is doing a full factory reset on the phone the only way?? Seems a bit extreme!
I have a Garmin HRM Dual and am experiencing the same issue.
I believe the issue is iPhone/iOS related as it all works without an issue on my iPad Pro. Using my iPhone X (iOS 14) I can pair the device but receive no HR data.
Turning the phone off, restarting all devices, resetting the HRM by pulling the battery out made no difference.
Same issue here. New Garmin HRM Dual and had no issues for a couple of rides.
My setup is my iPhone X, Garmin HRM Dual, and Wahoo Kickr Core.
Worked well on Wed, but on Thurs, when I tried to ride, I realised that my HR was at a flat 108. I then had a pop-up on my iPhone that HRM wanted to connect. I pressed yes. Not sure which app was triggering that pop-up. Then HRM started showing 0.
Since then, it can still connect but shows 0.
I’ve tried the following,
Forgetting the bluetooth connection - Didn’t work
Restarting the iPhone - Didn’t work
Deleting Garmin Connect, and trying Zwift - Didn’t work
Deleting and reinstalling Zwift - Didn’t work
Deleting Zwift companion - Didn’t work
Removing connections to Apple Health app - Didn’t work
Connecting HRM to Garmin Edge 530 - Works but doesn’t help me get my data to Zwift. So the HRM is fine but just can’t connect to Zwift.
Echoing other folks here - Hasn’t anyone tried anything that worked?
My main option left is to factory reset my phone, which as others have mentioned is a pretty huge and time consuming step.
My issue was no HR on Zwift when running it on my iPad where I also had the Garmin connect app. I deleted Garmin connect and HR on Zwift been fine since then.
