Game Update v 1.80 [December 2024]

Good QA occurs when layoffs move through SDev down to testing and they replace them with people who actually do their jobs. That’s how it works in companies that make decent software.

I wish they would invest in some more up grades to th ZCA.
I could probably be content with a HUD free display and use just the ZCA if there were just a few tweaks.

Number one is to be able to message from the Game screen in ZCA.
I don’t really need to review the comment log when making a comment in game.
The whole message screen is useless except for the message screen.
I use voice to text so I don’t need a key board or even a message field.

Agreed; and it’s not like they don’t have a base to go off of!

We’re … almost all cyclists here, and are all extremely used to using one or two (now … we’ll call it four or five) cycling computers that all spit out relative data we’re used to seeing… below us. All the data is there!.. use it!

Sadly, the only reason why I keep messaging up on companion app, is so I don’t get sweat on my phone which accidentally holds down the massive STOP :stop_sign: button on the map and HUD repeater screens…

Ask me how I know about that one!

Absurd it exists and where it exists… but, of course whoever is in charge of Zwift’s UI has literally no idea how anyone uses anything; they’ve proven that time and time again!

I dont race with the companion app open anymore becuase of this.. leaving it on the message sceeen is a good idea however

VenTop has distance markers on the side of the road.
Unfortunately, most of them are in shadow and you can’t read the numbers.

That’s the worst thing with them, even on a Mac with ultra graphics setting and high resolution and a huge screen you cannot read them at all, the lighting on them renders them darker than they should be.

If someone knows the route they can watch the distance or the total elevation gain.

I’ll list my most freq use of ZCA in case ZHQ reads this thread and maybe we’ll see changes.

I use the power up button / trash power up, Ride On button, Turn buttons, work out pause/play and message field.

There is no reason to have a big Stop button because I never need to quickly stop.
I do need to quickly turn right occasionally.
I guess the Camera function should be handy and definitely a FLAG rider button.

I posted this back in October 2020.

I’ve since moved on to a MacMini M2, and still can’t read them.

Well… bad news all; seems PD5 may be popping up live in all worlds…

Seriously ZHQ, can we talk about this already???
This is a group ride with 160+ people.
Why are we splitting up into lanes?

Next lap:

To anyone to argue “take a video”

The fact this ride is at 170+ people now as of this edit, this shouldn’t be happening… literally at all, proving there is something fundamentally wrong.

Have you asked the events team if they can apply your preferred pack dynamics? I haven’t tried that but they may have the ability to do it. Of course they are mostly on holiday right now but it might be worth asking.

It got plopped on us; I was hoping we could escape it by going to worlds other than Watopia… but seems that wasn’t the right answer either lol!

So no; seeing how quick this change has come, we have not… (nor should we have to to be fair, but I know what you’re saying.)

Thing of note for PD5:

Seems left lane is “fast” and right lane is “slow”
that much I can identify is what’s “trying” to happen.
edit: though this isn’t always true. My character just slung to the far left of the road… ALONE, when I was sitting steady pace with our yellow beacon also at steady pace.

We might just have to try to figure out how to make this ‘work’
But it would be helpful to know what’s going on with it; and what’s up with these times where we get flung out, not to the edge but… literally away from everyone.

Yep exactly. Did a group ride yesterday. Around 60 of us. Sometimes it was a long narrow lane of riders, but usually one group on each side of the road. Again, seemed like a constant battle trying to stay in the middle.
I guess it’s pd5. It blocks me from moving in, but when I was finally able to get there. It seemed like riders were able to push me out of the group. (Maybe they were dropping elbows)

It’s necessary for racing so we just have to take our medicine and enjoy it. :frowning:

I think I know what’s happening with the markers and why they are poorly lit compared to other surrounding scenery. Without redoing them probably not possible to fix it.

Or give them some slight illumination.

lmao!

I just wish we were given the option to OPT-IN; instead of being forced dropped in. That should seem like a simple request.

My real issues with PD5 (and IMO the real issues we had with PD4), was the fact they were just laid on us, with no explanation, and in the case of PD5… literally without warning (and still as of yet… no statement about it).

We adapted over time with PD4, and PD5 … is definitely in a buggier state, and will get improved eventually, it’s the lack of inclusion of information directly from ZHQ that’s the most obnoxious.

On the subject of France; there’s something all-around ‘wrong’ with the light in that world.

If you pay closer attention, around the squiggly / spaghetti section of that world, you will go into a shady area, as if it’s a tunnel, despite it being open-air the whole way.

That is one of the reasons why I keep asking for an update to it and other worlds, to be brought up to the standard that is now Watopia.

Racers are not defending it. In fact nobody is happy with it as far as I can tell. It seems clear that some aspects of it were developed in response to prior feedback, but it also has a lot of unwanted side-effects. Needs work and communication as Andrew mentioned. The way it’s being tested is unhelpful and corrodes trust.

Oh, and I found something bigger than a hole today cruising Jungle… just for @calfzilla :kissing_heart:

I’d love to tell you what on earth is going on here, but I’m frankly not even sure myself.

This is looking southbound down towards the coastline road, and the bottom of jungle waterfall area.
It’s like a hole (well that typo worked out!) chunk of ground is missing, but I’m not even sure it’s supposed to be there at all??? Or if that’s supposed to be rock?

I only saw it briefly and didn’t have a minute to actually stop and look.

This is the biggest issue with PD5.

@Eric-Schlange-ZI when you get around to writing about PD5 can you include ZHQ’s reason for developing testing and implementing it semi-secretly in a production environment without any communication to their users?

There is a good hole in in the snow on the Epic KOM Reverse, right at the 300m elevation sign. You can see rocks underneath the “snow”.

Pace partner rides are broken by PD5, I keep ending up way way ahead of Yumi doing 2.9 or less, and get dropped at 2.9 or more

you are ahead of Yumi at 2.9 and get dropped at above 2.9???
