Game Update - April 29th, 2020

I am using a Tacx Neo with the Apple TV, so I have not had to deal, with connecting anything through the Companion app, but I did notice this change on the pairing screen. What I am wondering, especially after your experience, is whether selecting the ‘Connect with Companion’ option is just that, an option to connect everything through the Companion app. Is it possible, by chance, to NOT select this and connect the first two devices through the ATV, then use the Companion app to connect any additional devices, the same way you may have been doing it before?

Essentially what I’m wondering is if everything works the same as it used to, but with the added feature of being able to connect everything through the Companion app if you want to. No idea if this is the case, or not, but possibly worth a try.

Have you tried force-quitting the app on your iPad? I find this pretty much always solves the ‘no signal’ issue.

It’s nuts that there’s no central place to see what version each platform should be on (including the Companion app), the release date and exactly what changed. Should be added to the status page or something. Could put the status of the Apple version too - awaiting approval or live. That’s always a massive support issue, where people don’t know they can’t update yet.

After the update at my notebook it writes “you’re logged in but seems there are no roads to ride” . Before the update it worked like swiss watches in logging in - no probs at all. And now… disappointed

Hi, that was for me always the way I did do the connection, HR and Kickr Power to Apple TV and Cadance to Companion. However, this doesn’t work anymore. I can only do 2 connection to Apple TV and then either choice “Unpair all devices” or “ignore device” where previously the message was “Apple TV is out of bluetooth connections. would you like to try to connect through Zwift Companion on your smart Phone?”. that always worked for me. Now I can only use companion if I want to use 3 BT connections, with all risks of drop outs because of wifi. How it was before last update was working much better. Anyone else experiening the same issues?

Hi Nigel, the previous method is no longer an option after the update. Here’s a screenshot when i try to pair the third sensor:

Upon clicking ‘unpair all devices’ it will force all connections through zca.

In theory, pedals may yield slightly higher power, since they include power lost to the drivetrain, while by the time you get to the trainer friction in the drivetrain has reduced the power delivered. But various power meters read slightly differently anyway, so it may be a wash.

That should be separate from the trainer being controllable. You should be able to use the pedals for power and the trainer for control, I think.

I just got booted out of this race, not long after a rider I’d been riding with mysteriously disappeared. Suddenly I saw the log-in screen. I logged back in and wasn’t in the race anymore.

WoW it keeps like the battery advertising “going and going” this glitched, after what it seem to apparently update/fixes…

Interesting. Well, the potentially good news is that (provided you have a recent Kickr firmware update, you should be able to select your Kickr trainer for BOTH power and cadence (using one BT connection), and connect your (presumably) BT HRM to the other connection. You shouldn’t need to use a separate cadence sensor. Perhaps this option will allow you to get all three pieces of data through the two BT connections on ATV.

I do find it curious, though, that ATV would now force the user to connect ALL Bluetooth devices through the Companion app, instead of allowing two through ATV and the third through ZC. Seems like a step backward.

Indeed. It was all fine and dandy before the update. Hope there will be a fix soon.

The screenshot was actually from my sister’s setup. I’m using a Minoura Kagura LST9200. It outputs cadence, but it was never accurate, so I bought a separate cadence sensor. Yesterday, I used the cadence signal from the trainer, and now it’s totally haywire. The avatar looked like it was tap dancing or doing a Flash Gordon impersonation.

Companion app does not fix that problem, of i connect thru Companion app i does not feel feel the gradiants, it feels like erg-mode. I have to connect trainer and heartrate via appletv 2 BT connections and skip cadence.

Zwift has dropped support for Samsung Note 8 since this update. Please remove it from the recommended devices list, because I picked this phone just for zwifting

Lost my Scott Spark from garage since update, had to buy another one.

Just happened again, not very good and very frustrating

Twice last weekend at the end of a race, Zwift crashed on Apple TV- it was classic- in one race I was just winding up my sprint after 45 min of work! Screen went black, and there was no picking the race back up- rejoining the activity just put me back in the course, out of the race. All taken with a grain of salt, but wanted to see if this had to do with the update seeing as how it’s happened twice since then and never once before with the same equipment?.. I don’t want to bark up too many trees with my network or the Apple TV overheating or anything like that if it’s going to be a patch coming out?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

No. I have no idea how to do that. Please please advise??
