Effort on downhills Saris H3

So, Zwift had an update yesterday. I installed it and today’s ride was fine. Hopefully the update resolved the problem. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

I’ve been having the same issue and still do today glad I found this post as Zwift CS seem to think it’s just me. Any tips to get this going would be great. All works over ant just don’t always have my dongle so isn’t a solution long term for me.

Not just you. I have had the same issue the last 3 rides - including the first race of the ZRL today. Disconnected and restarted everything last night to see if that helped. No luck.

Dave - did the reinstall solve your issue?

No reinstall, I just installed the latest update. Mine has been fine since.

Still having the issue. The only way for me to fix is to uninstall Zwift from ATV and reinstall. Need to do about every 4-5 rides.

I’m having the same problem, I use the Saris H3 with latest firmware and latest version of Zwift on MacOS connected through bluetooth. During a race I had to pedal downhill and sometimes the resistance reduced when going uphill. ERG mode was not engaged.

Zwift really needs to fix this.

I have been having issues with my Saris H3 for weeks, and have updated the firmware, re-calibrated it, and even just unplugged it hoping that simple act would help. I can’t do ANY Zwift WO’s b/c my resistance doesn’t sync with Zwift WO, AND I notice when I cycle ANY course my resistance is always off - feels like I am climbing at times when I am only on 1-2% and I have to peddle hard downhills. I tried to e-mail Zwift, but got an e-mail back saying to check FAQ - so either they fix the damn problem or I will dump their product. ANYONE AT ZWIFT LISTENING, I can’t be the only other one alone with Rob ter Heine having this problem still.

Hi @Candice_Hirsch-Kirst

What Windows version are you using?

I am using an IPAD for my Zwift App window

This may help: Guide to Getting Useful Support?

I actually did all of that, THEN reached out to Zwift and they sent me a stock response to go to FAQ. I guess they just don’t have time for users, and we are expected to figure it out for ourselves, and/or rely on the knowledge of others to fix the problem. A real shame. Thanks for the information, I will save it to a tab in case I stay on Zwift and need it for the future.

Can you give us that info maybe we can help.

Okay - I had to find the original e-mail, and am between work calls, so thanks for any help, and patience with delays:

Trainer - Saris Hammer 19289 (H3)
Firmware version: 31.063 (updated just 2weeks ago)
I connect via blue tooth to the Zwift app and to the Saris trainer - Up until about 4 (maybe 5 weeks) ago, it seemed to work fine. Now either I can barely move the peddles, or they fly like crazy. I also notice it doesn’t sync with the Zwift course now.

I re-calibrated my Saris, I updated my Zwift IPAD app to the latest version - the blue tooth says ALL connects properly to my Hammer.

I saw some comment that said to update Saris to advance firmware, but cannot find what that means, and don’t know if it will screw things up worse, so haven’t done that yet. I was hoping Zwift could help and answer that particular question.

I also saw another comment that said to un-install and re-install my Saris app - I just don’t know if that is worth the time/effort, b/c then I have to re-calibrate again.

I’m having the same issue. Updated the firmware just the other day. Also recalibrated using the Saris app. I use an ATV. This was all working great up until a few weeks ago. Resistance doesn’t sync with what’s going on on Zwift. Sometimes I can barely turn over the pedals (even when going downhill!) and sometimes they just spin like crazy. Zwift is becoming unusable due to this - need a fix soon.

I feel better knowing I am not solo on this issue, but haven’t been able to use my trainer this past week, b/c the last time I used it my legs just got killed with the insane resistance I was being ‘given’

I found a similar post on the forum that suggested moving the ATV closer to the trainer (bluetooth signal strength variability). I’ll give that a try but I feel that’s grasping at straws. I see you’re using an iPad so that may not be any help for you but just thought I’d mention it. I suppose I should also check to make sure I’m running the latest Zwift app on my ATV but I think it does auto updates so it’s likely up to date. Very frustrating.

Yes, I saw that, and researched if I could use an ATV with an IPAD, but looks like I cannot. I may move to Rouvey, which is a shame, since I feel like Zwift has some fun contend I like to ride, and group activities I like.

Wish I would have seen this before getting a new H3 and Apple TV with the intention of Zwifting all winter, haha. Today was my first experience with this issue, the first 5 rides were fine. Was riding France and the first climb was fine, but then went to the Aqueduc KOM and after going under that banner, everything got weird. Realized what was happening and then starting googling the problem. Ended up unplugging the trainer and that seemed to fix the problem, although the climbs still didn’t feel as challenging as the first few rides. Hoping that was just due to not having calibrated it since replugging back in? Did all that again once I was done with the ride(with the Saris app and through Zwift), so we’ll see what happens tomorrow.

I had a problem a few weeks ago after calibrating with the Saris app. Afterwards I could not get the trainer to pair up with Zwift. It took about a half hour of fiddling around, but I finally figured out what the problem was. After you calibrate, update firmware, etc., you must close out the Saris app on your tablet or phone. If you minimize it, or open another app The Saris app will not let you connect to Zwift. The light will stay blue. I found out myself by noticing on my phone that it was still open in the background. Clear all tabs and give it a go. If the light goes white, you got it. It worked for me.
