@Christine_Strathmann
FYI, game updates are announced in the What’s New board.
Is there a way to use the companion app while using the ANT+ dongle? My computer is not set up close to my bike that I can reach to use the functions to change directions or give a “ride on” while riding. I like want to use the companion app if possible to do this but during my last ride the companion app did not load my ride while using the ANT+ controllable.
Thank you for any thoughts that anyone might have.
Hi @MRPopp, the companion app links up to Zwift via wifi, as long as they are both on the same wifi network they will communicate. This has nothing to do with ANT+ or bluetooth, unless you are trying to use the companion app to connect your trainer/sensors to Zwift (this is only possible with bluetooth I believe), but still uses the wifi network.
Was you phone on cellular data perhaps, not on wifi?
@Mike_Rowe_PBR
Thanks for the reminder. I have had a lot of trouble with my internet over the last several days and a new modem so yes they were on different wifi networks. Everything is working good now.
Ya se libero la nueva actualización. Voy a ver que tal. Saludos.
H3 users do you select the “advanced firmware options” on the app or do you just use the “update firmware” button on the home page? I tried the advanced firmware options and now my trainer says it has 31.063 but my wife’s trainer says 31.062. Is there much difference between the two firmwares? Also why would a more recent update be so hard to find? The saris website doesn’t offer much in terms of explanation. Thanks.
I don’t see that option in my App? What app are you using?
Hi @Gerrie_Delport the Saris app. In the menu you can click “about” then select advanced firmware. I have no idea what that really does. Then on the update feature it lists a bunch of updates. I picked the top one.
I find it odd that it isn’t the one it auto updates with.
Wow never saw that.
I think I will ask SARIS first before doing a advance firmware update. I am happy with my H3 as is.
I asked but never got a reply. I just found that option recently. I am really just curious more than anything. Does your H3 ever make a scraping noise? Not a click.
Same issue for me… ATV and new Saris H3. I’ve logged a ticket with Zwift and hopeful of some advice that fixes the issue. Had to give up tonight on NYC as the Gradient % had no correlation to the laggy resistance the trainer was giving me and after a bad day at work the experience wasn’t what I’d ‘paid for’. I wonder how many smart trainers are returned as ‘faulty’ when it could be the signal their receiving from the chosen App?
Hi @Dave_Suart
Did you pair the trainer as controllable and Power source. Were you doing a workout or in free ride mode?
Morning @Gerrie_Delport
I’m paired as a controllable and power source
ride was a ‘ride’ rather than workout
check your trainer firmware.
Posting here to add my name to the list of affected H3 owners.
My original post is in the [Saris H3 not working on Apple TV (April 2020)] thread.
Firmwares is up to date and after a dalliance with Rouvy and RGT I can conclude from all I’ve read on line AND the fact Zwift can’t be arsed to fix the Saris trainer calibration known issue that Zwift aren’t making an effort to ensure Saris trainer owners get the full immersive experience with Zwift and as such instead of pedalling away …: I’m sitting down to cancel my Zwift subscription WIE.
Do you use the other software on you ATV?
Rouvy I do and it controls the Saris perfectly.
RGT uses the phone and then a screen app runs on ATV.
I’ve cancelled the Zwift subs now. Can’t be doing with inconsistent resistance in general Zwift rides and an ERG mode that doesn’t give you the resistance you need to hit a power figure.
It’s absolutely clear to me. If you can’t calibrate a Saris through Zwift. It’s not 100% compatible.
Other training platforms (other apps) have managed to control my saris as expected.
I am a bit gutted. Watopia and all the choices of routes are terrific in Zwift but the official support (help tickets system) too generic.
When the fun stops … stop. Ultimately I go on that thing to get fit and to escape. If it’s not immersive and in fact the opposite (frustrating) and putting me into a trouble shooting world of pain when I’m all updated / calibrated … then where’s the fun in that?
I put this at Zwifts door. The saris works. But Zwift haven’t taken the trouble to accommodate the Saris H3.
You don’t have to calibrate with Zwift. Use the saris app. It is always better to use the manufacturer app because if they make changes they will update there own app before telling Zwift or any other platform.
I have been using my H3 for almost a year and not a single issue.
Hello,
I haven’t used Zwift in a while due to the warmer riding season, however, I just got a new Saris H3 and am experiencing this problem.
My firmware is up to date. I use an iPad with the latest version of iPad OS and Zwift. Zwift pairs with the H3 via Bluetooth and indicates it is paired for power, cadence, and controllable. My trainer difficulty is set to max as I prefer the most realistic feel.
I can use the Saris Utility app to manually control the trainer and it works as expected.
