Bug: Blurred / out of focus screenshots (iOS/iPadOS)

Many thanks @B_Jimmy @Gerrie_Delport_ODZ. Just recovering from an operation so spinning a single 30 minute long interval which explains why it gradually gets worse and then magically disappears at the end

Now you know how to turn it off. Fun fact: The “pain Effect” was in Zwift from the beginning but there was no way to turn it off. LOL

Hope you recover quickly.

fun… or annoying?  I’m surprised we don’t see more complaints about it on the forums, maybe people like it?

I think it’s just oddly used. If it was based on reaching a certain wattage or heart rate it might make more sense but it seems to appear during even the simplest workout steps.

FWIW I switched mine off.

One of the few things where if you don’t like it you can just turn it off.

Is your FTP set correctly in the game? In the screenshot it shows you in the yellow zone which is threshold (this is why the pain effect comes up), but you’re at 85W and say you’re spinning. If you’re actually spinning you should probably set your FTP up higher in the game and you’ll then only see the pain effect on true threshold activities. (of course you can also just turn the pain effect off).

Lets haul this back on-topic shall we…

Issue still present in latest update ( 1.33 update January 2023) and occurring for new riders in my feed:

And another one, again a different rider in my feed not already reported, seems almost universal at this point:

This just started for me on the last update this week. I use PC and blurred shots in workouts and in regular rides like TTT tonight.
Never had issues prior to January 31.

I wonder if this happens because Zwift is trying to take a screenshot of the ride report/end ride screen, but mistimes it?

In those screens, the background is always blurred.
Here you can see parts of the UI fading out, and from the time/distance I can see that it’s at the end of the ride:

I’ve never had blurry screenshots in a race; in a race Zwift takes a screenshot of the race results, but that screen doesn’t have a blurred background.

Yeah, that was my theory initially - basically a timing issue. I did finally run into one blurry photo a few weeks back (first one I had noticed), it was on the AdZ at the top, after my workout was complete, but not on the way up through the arch, it was on the way back towards it, so it wasn’t when an “end of ride summary” or banner message should have been screenshotted. So if it is a timing issue it’s off by about a minute (or whatever time it takes to travel from the arch back around that loop).

Another one, different user/rider. Still occuring in latest version:

Still there in latest build:

It most definitely is. I had it again yesterday. It is definitely connected to the photo taken right at the end of a workout. Something about the timing seems off, so that you get the fuzzy picture, but not the workout summary.

Still there, seeing it from multiple riders in feed:

Hey folks,
We’re looking at this visual glitch in parallel with our Video screenshot feature.

Also: please verify that Pain Effect is turned off as some of you may be running into that.

Thanks @shooj that sounds like good news. Yes I can confirm that I always have pain effect disabled.

Hey folks, thanks for your reports here, it’s super helpful.

We have a bead on a potential fix for this issue, and assuming we’re on the right track, we’ll try to have it available in an upcoming game release. We’ll share more once we have more details.

Hi everyone, this issue is solved with game release v 1.40 which began phased rollout today. Over the following two days, it should be available to everyone. Please update at your earliest convenience.
