Bot riding and spamming the chat

There’s a bot spamming the chat like crazy.

Seems there is multiple with that nickname…

If we see these what should we flag it as? There’s no spam option in Flag User, is there?

I would consider it “Bad language”

Not sure what the best option is but between harassment or bad language the message should get across if there are many reports.

Can’t you just block it

Nope, blocking is not a feature in Zwift believe it or not.

Take that however you want, because it is indeed, as bad as it sounds.

I wasn’t sure as I very rarely used chat outside of group rides

It’s wild.

This… “thing” is still here somewhere, I guess near Tempus, still spamming for the record.

When riding with Coco or other PacePartner I like chatting with other riders. Not only sometimes there’s some good banter going around but also sometimes new riders with questions and I like to help.

For what I realized by the activity map it just jumps around following a PacePartner and sending the same message times and times again.

My concern is that this may become a thing now that someone discovered how to do it.

Other than being annoying what’s the purpose?

Perhaps they should rate-limit chat by people who repeat themselves?

Added bonus would be suppressing people saying “hydrate” :joy:

The bot messages are in Chinese so don’t know what they say. But like many spam that goes around it must have a purpose

It’s some sort of reference to the WeChat app for a cheap Zwift subscription, supposedly.

I think it is limited in some extent, but I see what’s going on now though; it’s teleporting all over the map I guess via the pace bots.

But it’s messaging every 15 seconds…

Google translated:
“50% off Zwift recharge”

I won’t repeat the details.

You can turn off chat however, and put a “chat off” in your username just to let everyone else know.

I’ve seen a few folks do that.

If it does, then it might bring about a clean up of this, same with the people riding around advertising their training/coaching/physio business at the end of their user name, or for that matter, which ever organisation powers them (aka sponsoring them).

Poor robopacers.

They are playing with getting banned

Seriously, it has been discussed in other threads, but a simple “mute user until my next ride” button would be great to all - I would personally love knowing that people could mute me if I and some other was having a “party” in the group chat

I spent 5 hours seeing that nonsense on Sunday Morning and it is supper irritating. It can easily be addressed by individually muting others etc.

But it goes a little further than that, because we spent some time spectating this specific user, and they jump to robot pacers, use pedal assist - rinse and repeat, so basically just farming with macros or whatever.

The reporting seem to have disconnected them a few times but most times they get ± 30kms in and just rejoin.

What happens when they spam obscene language / political views etc. endlessly?

Zwift needs to nip this in the but and quickly.

And while we at it, take some action on the offensive names as well. I do not join zwift to see “free free palestine” or whatever other political crap on my screen for hours on end…

I agree, this automated client was clearly exploiting the pedal assist to gain distance travelled with no actual work being done.

It’s very clear if you look at the watts and RPM being 0 the whole time.

I suggest that there should be a cooldown for pedal assist and teleport of once every 30mins like coffee break.
