Android Companion is not available since 3.34

it has to be without Google Sevices installed in our phone. that talks the differences, few players reported such problem like us.

I have Google Services installed in my phone , and update companion version from 3.33 to 3.34 in Google Play. But it still broke.

Same problem. Custom AOSP without google services, login page doesn’t move to next.

please give us a fix!

Still can’t use the app, still completely blue screen for me.
This is getting mildly frustrating nobody at Zwift can even admit there’s an issue.

Confirm no changes with new 3.35.0 version.

Still not working! Pleas fix it

FYI, after emailed Zwift support team,

I interpret that reply as “those devices without Google Mobile Services-GMS/Google Play Store, won’t be supported anymore”

There is NO coming a fix, it even not a bug, they just changed remote login config, denied Companion login without GMS

Salute to ZW

Meanwhile I thought it was kind of funny, last night I was able to use one of my tablets that cannot for some reason run Companion App, ran Zwift itself totally fine without issues.

Doesn’t even make sense to me.

This is exactly what’s happening with my Hammerhead Karoo 2.

Was shocked Zwift Companion worked even on bicycle computer :0
But saw it by own eyes.

Won’t in a few months.

The companion apk 3.34 and 3.35 installed from google store are both freezing at blue Z logo page. It was able to use before those updates.

Ooooops, It doesn’t fit

FYI again,

This app solves the problem of no GMS, Companion works now.
Jst add/‘clone’ Companion into its apps list.
device: (Android12 Realme GT Neo RMX3031)

I didn’t login my Google account in the whole step.

Please search and download it by yourself in Google, I can’t guarantee its security.

I don’t think this is the solution, AS Z avatar Dave leave short message here said:

Won’t in a few months.

i would rather see a update log know WHAT caused the problem

Sorry, that was in reply to the comment about the Hammerhead Karoo, which runs on Android 8.

I confirm, If starting Companion app through this app Companion is working.
One thing that worries me, this app asked Phone permissions and not work without it. I don’t want to give some unknown app the permissions to make calls. And I don’t know where or to whom.

someone del my harmless long reply. :-1:

i checked Gspace’s all day long activities in Phone log, it didn’t make calls, but read MMS is allowed.

i prohibited its make calls permission, Cloned Companion & Gspace still running normally

Hey all - this discussion touches on several separate issues that we’d like to address.

The only official source for Zwift apps is the Google Play store. For the optimal experience it’s important to use the latest version of the Zwift Companion app and Zwift game app together. This is why Zwift does not provide an archive of older versions.

Country by country laws: Zwift complies with laws in each region, as well as Google’s terms of service.

Sideloading third party APK’s: Zwift advises against downloading an APK from a third party source. There’s too many security risks involved.

Rooted Android devices and custom ROMs: You take on both the the downsides and benefits of using custom ROM builds. They may have necessary components removed without your knowledge or Zwift’s, and there’s no practical way for Zwift to provide support for them.

Deprecated hardware: Starting in August 2022, Zwift is deprecating older versions of iOS and Android for both the game app and Companion app. If your hardware can be upgraded to a newer Android version - please do so.

What devices are supported for the Android Zwift Companion app? Please see this Support Hub article.
