Companion App does not start [3.68.0] (Android 9]

It appears Companion App was recently updated. I use it on my older Samsung Galaxy S8, android ver 9. As of today, the app allows me to login, and then crashes. And crashes. And crashes. Works on S22 and Galaxy Tab A7, but bricked on on S8. Any ideas?

There are other reports of this in the 3.68 thread and I see you’ve posted there too. That other thread is the best place for this issue.

I assume this is the thread @Steve_Hammatt is referring to: Zwift Companion v3.68 [March 2025] - #21 by JB_Jones

Yep, but he’s posted there already, which is why I didn’t bother adding a link

Posted to help others find it when searching and coming to this thread as the best match.

What helps most is posting comments on the relevant release topic

That’s not discoverable through search unless you know the issue is with a specific release of the companion app. I didn’t even know there had been an update. Bugs and Support is the obvious place to go if you’re having issues, and search will bring people here, not there.

A search on the forums for crashing issues with Companion and Android would find it. Searching just the Bugs & Support forum wouldn’t be a good idea since people post about their problems in all sorts of different places - General Discussion, What’s New, and plenty of other areas too.

When you’re searching for information about a new problem, sort results by Latest and not Relevant. The release topic is the top result.

Hi folks, an update on this in the 3.68 thread: Zwift Companion v3.68 [March 2025] - #43

Android 9
Companion App 3.68.0 opens with the blue screen but closes after a second.

This has worked flawlessly for 18 months and suddenly stopped.

Reinstall app and phone restart changes nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick response :+1:

Zwift Companion version 3.68.1 is now available in the Play Store and resolves the crashes affecting Android version 9.

Version 3.68.1 is functionally identical to the previous release, 3.67.0, and will be available in the interim period while we work on a permanent fix for the issue which is planned to be released soon.
