Android | Companion app "network error"/ unable to log in [February 2024]

Yes, my companion app hasn’t worked in game since this issue started. I was given assurances this was a high priority issue, but it appears that is not the case at all. Developing frivolous new in game bells and whistles seems to be the order of the day. Not happy at all. Might investigate partial refund of my annual membership at this rate.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ running Android 12 and One UI version 4.1.

No steps necessary to induce the network error, as it happens every single time in game when on wifi. Can view rides afterwards on mobile data (4G).

Any chance of fixing the known issue for the android companion app not working in game? Or are you just supposed to accept you are S.O.L. if affected?

Guy Sajer,
I am using android phone companion app, android tablet zwift and the companion app is so temperamental to say the least.
U turn button has never worked from day one.
I can’t access the app using wifi, i can only access using 5G as when using wifi it asks for sign in details and when entered says details are incorrect. Sometimes works when on wifi though after I’ve started a ride, probably 50/50, but when looking at events i.e who is taking part in the event it just comes up network error. Tried removing the app, reinstalling, updating but same issues persit

For the u-turn button, it only works for some reason if no one is behind you (don’t know why that is considering you can ride through people) and if you hold in the button. You’ll see the button fill up and then you’ll turn.

Hi @Norman

Thanks for the reply in my thread, but the problem I have is not limited to connecting via WiFi. I get it on mobile data, too.

Just a ping that this is still happening on a regular basis…

@Rowdy I have sent an Android bug report via email as requested.

Thanks!

It´s still an issue for me when connected via WiFi.

Hello zwift this is so annoying happens on different wifi networks. How do you fix it. Only way i found is turning off wfi and closing app. And restarting. Are you working on a fix.???

New Companion App version is out … still not working. I get Network Errors, especially on the Events page when displaying participants.

Still 100% failure rate with the companion app on wifi, which means no in-game companion app. Sick of explaining to people via my laptop keyboard that I can’t return Ride-Ons. Strongly suspect zwift simply do not G.A.S. about those affected.

Now its nov 22 and this has still not been fixed. This crap is happening on both wifi and mobile network, though it happens more on wifi.
Phone is oneplus nord N10.

And “Ooops something went wrong” also occours several time every week.

I had to uninstall and reinstall the app for the event page to show up again without the network error message.

Was in two minds whethet to update the zwift companion app, but proceeded in the hope the issues which have been going on for a YEAR might be resolved. Nope. Now events won’t load. Unbelievable.

Which issues have been ongoing a year?

Have you reset the filters which is resolving the event issue?

The issues described in this thread have been ongoing for a year. Essentially, android companion app does not work on WiFi, hence not available in game. Does work on 4G, but obviously not in game. Only seems to affect certain devices or set-ups. It seems zwift no longer care about those affected.

I didn’t have any filters applied, but that seems to have worked, thanks.

Looking back, I could have sworn this started last November, but seemingly it was February, so ‘only’ 9 months without resolution.

This is essentially wrong.
I am zwifting each winter (Nov-Mar) since 2018. Untill the last update I never had issues with Android ZCA.

Me neither and with a quick reset of filters the current issue was resolved. Been zwifting since 2015 and have used about 6 different devices in this time.

I didn’t say it affected everyone. Just because it’s not happening to you doesn’t mean it’s not happening to anyone else.
