Activity Stuck "In Progress"

I had the same issue. What I think caused it was recording the ride on OSX whilst having the companion app open on iOS where the companion app had not been updated to the latest version. Once I updated the app the ride no longer showed in progress but it only had total stats, not the full course I for and did t upload to Strava. I may have stuffed that by trying to do multiple other tests rides in the middle the stuffed up the inprogress file.

I only use this about 1-2 hours a week so the choice of whether to spend $16 a month is somewhat meaningful - but I am glad to spend it (but feel that with the income stream from worldwide user base the tech support and robustness of the app should be much better). My activity uploads almost never finish. The next time I use the app I receive a message stating that my previous activity session did not finish uploading. I run many apps on my I-pad/I-phone and this is the buggiest by far…

This just happened to me because at the end of my Run, a pop-up from Zwift asking me to rate my experience crashed the whole program before I could save it. I followed the instructions Brody outlined above and it worked (kinda: some details are lost), but at least it saved. I then used the .Fit file to upload manually to strava.

Suffice to say, the “please rate your experience” did not go so well.

Same issue for me today, going to submit a bug report and try renaming file.
Out of interest for those people who have renamed the file, is it possible to upload it to Strava?

It’s a valid FIT file so there won’t be any issues uploading it to Strava.

Had this issue too. Zwift crashed at the end of workout from Training Peaks. Have managed to solve the issue.

I was using Zwift through my MacBook Pro. I found all the files on my laptop, there were several files for the ride, including the file saying ‘activityinprogress’. They are typically stored in the documents folder->Zwift->Activities on both Mac & PC

I went the fitfiletools website

I selected all the files for the ride and used the file combiner tool and uploaded straight to Strava.

All sorted. Phew! Was very disappointing for this to happen.
Hope it works for you too!

Had the same while running the app on an Ipad and companion app on an iphone.

First and last time running the companion app for me :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Zwift says the ride doesnt exist and there is no upload as usual to garmin.

To get my fit file I tapped the zwift logo 3 times on the opening screen of the app. Found that advice somewhere via google.

The tapping opens a log file with all your rides in fit format. Click and mail to yourself. Save the fit file and upload manually to strava, garmin or any app.

The ride is lost in my zwift overview but at least I have it again in my main garmin overview

iPhone zwifters … here’s a trick that worked for me to fix the corrupt file.

Unfortunately iOS prohibits access to the file system so you can’t directly access application files to fix them. However, since Zwift on iOS gives you access to the log files, you can email yourself a copy and fix it on another device (you’ll need zwift installed on that device too).

  1. From your iphone, open Zwift, access the log files, and email yourself a copy of the activityInProgress.fit file
  2. Open the email on your computer and save a local copy of the .fit file
  3. Move that file to your Zwift activities folder on your computer
  4. Rename the file as mentioned above (i.e., the ride’s timestamp)
  5. Now launch Zwift from the computer, enter a map, sit for a minute, then exit

At this point your ride data should have loaded to zwift.
