Did the firmware update on Zwiftplay and it now fails to connect with the pc. It shows there and just sticks on ‘Connecting’.
Checked and the controllers are linked and they connect immediately with my ipad & iphone. Not had an issue before on my pc and can’t see any ideas on how to fix this issue.
Problem is that i use the pc 99% of the time, only use the phone or pad if i’m not at home.
I agree with Mike, disabling onboard Bluetooth and using a USB dongle (eg, TP-Link UB500) can be a good option, but it is odd that this system worked and then no longer worked after the firmware update to the controls.
Tips about that process are here:
If you really do want to buy a new PC, make sure that it’s not one of the new ARM64 systems that typically have a Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU because Zwift doesn’t work on those. You want an Intel or AMD x86_64 CPU. Best visuals in the game are only available with a discrete GPU such as an Nvidia or AMD gaming GPU, though it doesn’t need to be a fancy one. Modern Macs also provide the best graphics quality in Zwift and perform reasonably well.
Thanks for the advice on the new processor. Will bear that in mind.
The pc i run it on is old (it’s so old it doesn’t show the short videos from rides!), and already has an external dongle. Seems crazy that it was working great until the firmware update, but connects fine to my wife’s Zwift pc (which is also pretty old). I’ll contact support to see if they have any ideas.
Tom here from ZHQ. This means I can access some server-side logs, unlike a few other contributors here on the Forums. I took a look, and I can see that you have Device - DONGLE ANT USBStick2 connected to your PC. Not a Bluetooth stick like suggested above.
Zwift 1st party devices and Zwift-ready trainers all connect via Zwift Protocol (ZP), which harnesses Bluetooth and WiFi. Having an ANT dongle installed in your PC will block your PC from connecting to ZP devices.
The likely best thing to do is to unplug the Dongle you have and attempt a ride using onboard Bluetooth, and the next step would be to try @Paul_Southworth 's suggestion above. The additional benefit of using ZP is that it provides a load of additional diagnostic data to Zwift Community Support should you run into any future issues with your devices.
Thanks Thomas. I’ll try that. The zwiftplay always worked through Bluetooth, as did my HR monitor. I’ll unplug the ant+ and connect everything through Bluetooth and cross my fingers
