Zwift vs Popularity maps

These were pulled from Garmin data as of September (not sure how much they adjust over time).

Thought it would be fun to compare the roads we have in Zwift, to how many of the same roads Garmin users use in the real world.
It should be noted that the popularity data from Garmin does not seem to include Zwift users (otherwise London would appear all wrong due to its fake roads in the southern half). Which makes this actually interesting.

Another thing of note, is the weird blobbiness of the mapping in New York; I believe that is due to poor GPS signals, so the data appears messy compared to others.

Richmond is an interesting one because the road that we have on Zwift is such a large major road in real life, nobody touches it.

I thought these maps would be interesting to compare to real life data, and potentially give a direction for expansion (still hoping that day will come for any of these maps), to match the more commonly ridden roads by the locals.

Good luck with making sense out of London and Paris though haha, those roads are being used either way!

Enjoy!
