Zwift ride: right hand handlebar control keeps switching off

Hi Everyone,

My right hand side Zwift ride handlebar keeps switching itself off a few seconds after I turn it on.

this means I can’t change gear up, only down (the left hand side works fine)

Zwift support (AI) suggested turning off and on (hasn’t helped) and checking for updates (up to date)

Could this be sweat damage?

Annoyingly, it doesn’t seem possible to buy a new handlebar unit.

Anyone have any ideas?

I can’t race at the moment and Zwift racing is my favourite thing.

If a hard reset doesn’t help (holding down big Z for 30 seconds) then I would contact support and ask for replacement. They do also sell the handlebar assembly (not in the online shop) but I think you deserve a free replacement if it’s faulty. “For the Zwift Ride handlebars, the Zwift Ride Warranty Period is 2 years from the date of original purchase (check local warranty periods for exact period in individual EU countries).” I assume it’s under warranty but even when out of warranty I would always make the request for free replacement.

I had the same issue on my Kickr bike, right shifter stopped working. I contacted their support service, and they sent me a replacement handlebar for free. It lasted for 1 year and then the right shifter stopped working again. They sent me another replacement for free. Hopefully, this one will last longer.

HI

I have the same issue as you but have found a work around.

1st thing are you following the help page from the Zwift website?
If so and your still having issues my work round is as follows:-

load up Zwift to pairing screen, switch on trainer let it connect, put on heart monitor wait for it to connect correctly, switch on left controller (takes about 10 seconds) and wait till paired, switch on right controller and wait till paired (takes another 10 seconds) Zwift should then start automatically

If the controllers don’t connect correctly Zwift wont auto connect, enter Zwift using the login button, exit Zwift, switch off and reset laptop, reload Zwift till the pairing screen appears, then follow the above connecting procedure, every time so it has connected correctly following that procedure on it’s second go.

I think it something with how bluetooth works on my lap top or on the controllers

Thanks John

Hi @James_Cavell_Amsterd, welcome to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

I had a look and can see that one of my colleagues has already arranged a replacement set of Zwift Ride Handlebars for you. Fingers crossed this one works smoothly so you can get back to racing without any interruptions.

Thanks for the comments also. @john_francis3

Ride On.

No problem, I have sent my first set back for this issue, but had the same issue with the second set. I have found that using the above process with the second set they have connected properly nearly every time.

Thanks John
