Zwift Ride + Kickr V6 Resistance Issue

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently got the new Zwift Ride Bike (just the frame) since I already owned a Kickr Core V6. I’ve also installed the Zwift Cog Multi-Trainer as per the instructions. At my main residence, I use another Kickr Core with a standard bike, and everything works perfectly - I complete my 1.5-hour Zone 2 sessions at around 220W with no issues.

However, I’ve started using the Zwift Ride setup more often, and I’m noticing a significant discrepancy, esp. in ERG mode. Despite the same perceived effort, I’m pedaling around 50 watts lower than on my other trainer setup (& outdoors).

Here’s what I’ve checked so far:
• The Zwift Cog was installed correctly (no washers or spacers missed).
• Nothing is rubbing, and mechanically everything seems fine.
• I performed a factory spin-down on the Kickr Core V6 but didn’t see any improvement.
• All software and firmware are up to date.

My FTP is around 250W, but I’m absolutely unable to complete workouts at this level on the Zwift Ride setup because the resistance feels significantly higher. A friend of mine with a similar setup (Zwift Ride + Core) is experiencing the same issue, also around 50W lower output.

Has anyone else faced this problem or found a solution? Am I missing something here? I’m honestly at my wit’s end and considering selling the bike/trainer.

I’d greatly appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Michael

Hi, @Michael_Wiesmeier, welcome to Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

Experiencing resistance issues can be quite frustrating, especially when you’re looking forward to the excitement of your new setup with the Smart Bike and KICKR V6. Let’s share some insights on this!

When you decrease your pedaling speed, the trainer will automatically ramp up the resistance to ensure you hit the target wattage for your workout. If you fail to achieve the target, the resistance may increase to an overwhelming level. If this occurs, simply coast for a few seconds to reset the resistance, allowing you to continue your interval seamlessly.

For more information on trainer control modes in the Wahoo app, see Trainer control modes for KICKR, CORE, SNAP, or BIKE in the Wahoo app.

I’d recommend to complete a factory spindown:

See Factory spindown KICKR/MOVE/CORE/SNAP

I suggest testing the KICKR in another third-party app to see if the issue is reproducible or only happens on Zwift.
