When Zwift added 26-50, Those with more XP than required to hit level 50 continued to earn accelerate XP until their banked amount was exhausted and then they returned to the normal rate.
I think riders earn double points until the banked points are exhausted OR they reach the level limit.
Points going to the bank are not double points .
If they reach the level limit, points are banked at the regular rate, just like when they reached the last limit.
I donât understand the problem.
I maybe be missing something.
No we didnât get accelerated XP after getting to level 50.
So I expect that once you get to level 60 your XP wonât double anymore and you will just get XP at the regular rate.
Then when level 60-70 open we will accelerate again until we hit 70 or bank run out.
To clarify, every time I got the wheels on ADZ during this level 50-60 period I was getting double XP. Screenshots below:
ADZ wheels before getting to level 60: +2000XP (normally 1000XP)
Figure 8 Reverse route badge: +1160XP (normally 580XP)
ADZ wheels after reaching level 60: back to normal 1000XP.
You could use this double XP period between 50-60 along with the route badges for the biggest rides in Watopia or London to jump up the levels very fast.
Thatâs not a good idea. Leave power and aero alone. Anything that affects speed or power should never be manipulated artificially. Not everyone joining Zwift to start with is unfit/slow in real life so to make them âless aeroâ doesnât make sense. It would also encourage the use of level-up bots even more than what is done now.
Not everyone starting zwift has a heavy, non-aero bike but that is how they start as you cycle more you buy better stuff that makes you faster. why not have skill improve too? similar idea to riding more so you can get better equipment that makes you faster.
FWIW i donât really see the need for anything to change with levels but zwift seem to think they have to which is why they have to limit levels (as far as I can see) so I was just suggesting something easy to implement that means levels donât need to be limited. Iâd happily never get another pair of gloves, socks or a new jersey or bike or anything.
humblebrag aside - i think Gerrie meant once you got to level 50 before the levels were expanded recently the doubling stopped - but it was actually 8x XPs last time.
@Chris_D9 - Chris Holton sums it up nicely above.
I do care about numbers like XPs, drops, levels, only when they keep increasing and zwift took it all awayâŚ
The only thing that never fails is the monthly chargeâŚ
What is the timeline on this? are the remaining banked XPs and accrued since level 60 going to be added when new levels are added or will they be back before then?
First the XP ended, now the drops have ended in the latest update/bug/screw-up. But donât worry, Zwift will be keeping track of all your XP and drops in a super secret hidden part of the program that you can see once they decide to reveal it to you. Also⌠stop being motivated by the things Zwift created to keep you motivated.
You could just receive a ârewardâ for each new level, for example 10,000 XP !
Thatâs a bit backwards, XPs make you get more levels so to get more XPs when you go up a level would just mean the next level was shorter. May as well just lower the next level target.
It has been suggested on here that the reason we do not have more levels is that it takes time and resources to create extra levels. If the main reward for getting another level wasnât always another jersey / socks / weird sunglasses, but rather the accomplishment of reaching a target, I personally would be happy with that. However it might be nice to also get a bonus towards the next. After all you do get XP bonuses at the top of the Alpe sometimes, which is much the same thing. Perhaps every ten levels there COULD be a special jersey. Zwift could have competitions for those of us who can design such stuff to submit designs, in Zwiftâs appropriate technical format, which would save time and resources. Just a thought of course.
My point is that XPs sole purpose is to move up levels, so if you give people a bonus of XPs for completing a level the only thing it will do is make the next level shorter.
if a level is 15,000 XPs and you get a 1,000 bonus for finishing the one before it is exactly the same as that level being 14,000 XPs.
they could just make a generic level jersey and it has the number on the back of the level you are, each time you level up the number changes if they really need to give people something (i personally donât think they do)
@James_Zwift , any update on this? There have been a couple updates now, and weâre all still stuck on 750K XP. Is there any movement from Zwift HQ to either fix this or at least explain what the policy is?
Iâm sure I explained the policy earlier. XP is locked at level 60 until further levels are added. We (to the best of my knowledge) hope to show rider score as banked XP in the future but I donât have any news on when that will be.
The language on this has changed over time.
you will continue to accrue XPs at accelerated rate until you get all you banked XP back.
You will get all your XP once you get to level 60.
Capping at 750,000 was intentional but we know how many you should have and will return banked XP
and now we âhope to show rider score as banked XP in the futureâ
easy to see why people might not be 100% convinced
Yeah, I know. We didnât handle or communicate this well - sorry.
@James_Zwift , could you please verify whether this is accurate? This a copy of my chat conversation with Kev H, a Zwift Ambassador on the Zwift support page: "In the past XP has obviously continued past the 500k mark, hence why people had so much excess XP. The excess XP (beyond 500k) was removed and used to âbuyâ the x2 boost until level 60 was reached. If the situation is the same as when level 50 was the maximum, Zwifters would be able to continue to gain XP beyond the level maximum (was 500k, is now 750k). This would lead me to believe that the XP would accumulate in order to allow a x2 boost again in the future. of course we all know that level 25-50 boost was x8, but thatâs another story. As far as I understand it, all excess XP over 500k is gone forever. (bolding mine)
Does this make sense? Even if it is quite annoying!"
My response was that no, this does not make sense. If this is valid, it would be great if we had some sort of explanation. Lacking that, it looks like Zwift making a decision to penalize people that have been on the platform a long time for no apparent reason.
No, we know how much banked XP you have, even if you canât see it.
