Updated with iphone (old one but it detected the plays fine), said update 2.01 successful.
Then launched game on PC. Connected “one” controller then the left controller turned off which means it’s no longer working. Right is operational.
Went back to iphone, i could see the “old” hardware number of each, told phone to forget both sides. None are detected anymore, nothing happens no matter how long i wait. So connected with android tablet, both are detected but left one keeps blinking when i try to link them. Now left with useless controllers.
I’m in the exact same boat, after the “successful update” the left controller doesn’t connect just flashes away. This started happening the moment the update completed via the companion app. The right controller had a solid light left just flashes away. App shows both controllers are up to date.
I had the exact same problem after updating the firmware yesterday and figured it out today. What I had to do was go into the Zwift Companion app and link both of the controllers together. In the Equipment section of the app, click Zwift Play, then Device Details. Below the firmware info for both controllers there will be a button to link them. Part of the new firmware was to make it so the controllers only use one Bluetooth connection, so they need to be linked together first. If the linking fails, turn off the controllers then back on and try again. It took me 5 or 6 tries before they actually linked, so if you keep trying it should work eventually.
Yes that is what i was trying but the left one kept blinking and the app refused to link because of that. I tried a few times and then the app eventually linked them despite both of them blinking. So i guess this is solved but strange that iphone no longer was able to see them. Tested them on PC and they are working now.
Ok cool. Glad you got it figured out. I would assume a lot of people are going to have the same problem because it’s not clear there is an extra step needed after the firmware is updated (as far as I can tell). In a GPLama video going over the update process he doesn’t even have to manually link them as they are already linked right after the firmware update is complete. Maybe it’s supposed to be automatic but it failed for us somehow. I tried posting the video here but the site won’t let me add links.
I’ve got the same issue and even after trying the solution given above many times the controllers are still refusing to link. Waiting for advice from Zwift.
Here are the steps i took to get a successful link:
-Quit all zwift apps (companion app and or game)
-Leave problematic controller on (i’m guessing it’s always the left)
-Hold the problematic controller’s power button for 30s for “hard” reset
-Power on both controllers
-Launch companion app
-Under hardware, tap on plays icon
-You should see the option to link them together…and hopefully they will
Sadly those steps didnt fix my issue, when I go to link them (after multiple restarts of the contorllers and phone/app) its always fails with the below error. I can get the controllers restarting during the pairing/linking process but old lefty just goes back to flashing every time. I’ll just be Zoolander and only turn right in game
Unfortunately the end result is always the same. I’ve tried this sequence multiple times with the same result - ‘Devices could not be linked. Please try again’. Solid blue light on RH controller, flashing blue on LH one.
Do you see a setting for Bluetooth enabled if you go into the iPhone Settings → Apps → Companion? Usually if permission is lost, re-installing the Companion app will give you another prompt to allow it. (I’m assuming Bluetooth service is actually enabled on the phone.)
I’m unable to link controllers either I’ve tried all the suggestions listed, tried companion on iPhone, Android and IPad exactly the same result every time left controller keeps flashing blue while right controller will show a solid blue light.
I haven’t had this exact issue, but, ever since doing the firmware update, I’ve been getting BT dropouts from all devices connected to my companion app. Almost never had them before, and now, I’ll be doing fine and then have 2-4 really short “connection lost” in a period of about 10 minutes. Usually resolves after that. Not sure if it’s related or not, but it didn’t happen before the update. If I were you (and you don’t need the extra BT channel to connect something else), I’d wait a bit before doing it. Hopefully, it’ll stabilize.
