Pretty much all there in the title. I tried plugging them into laptop and then other power sources to charge them. Lights never flash to green charging state. Flash blue (and orange) to pair (show low battery). Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi @Lebasi_Lashley doing good? Thanks a lot for the report! Let’s try the following steps to try and fix the Zwift Play charging issues:
- If your controller is powered on, press the
button and turn it off right now.
- Unplug the charging cable from the wall outlet.
- Unplug the charging cable from the USB port on the Zwift Play.
- Hold for 30 seconds.
- Plug back the charging cable into the Zwift Play’s USB port.
- Plug back the charging cable to the wall outlet. (Consider trying a different outlet)
- Wait until the LED Light turns green.
If these tips don’t work, please repeat the same steps but with a different wall outlet, if the issue persists try the same steps with a different USB cable, and if it applies to you, try the same steps with a different USB Wall Charger.
None of this worked? Don’t worry! Just contact us, let us know everything that you already tried, and we’ll sort this out for you.
Ride On.
Thanks, I read those instructions online prior to posting here. I was hoping someone might have experience with this problem and found a solution (as it can be hard to get through to customer service).
Edit: please note I’ve tried different wall chargers or power supplies but I can’t try different USB cables as the play comes with its own specific split cable — not sure a normal one would work.
I haven’t had this problem, but I tested charging the Play controllers with a generic USB-C cable and that appears to work. If you try that and it succeeds, it might indicate that your cable is damaged. Perhaps Zwift would provide a replacement, but I also see split USB-C cables on Amazon starting around $6. If it doesn’t work then I guess something went wrong with the Play controllers - both at the same time? Seems odd but not impossible.
A normal one does work. You just have to charge them seperatly. My split cable got damaged and I use a normal usb c cable now to charge them and it works fine.
Thanks Paul, I plugged the right one into a single USB cable and it’s flashing green so I think it’s charging! I’ll probably order a new split one on Amazon if it works.
