So the new update for play has rolled around. My controllers updated perfectly fine through my companion app without any hassle. My wife however, cannot get her play controllers to update. When she hits update firmware, the bar for installation sits…zero progression, zero movement. Sat for over an hour, nothing. Tried multiple times. A few times an error would happen stating it couldn’t connect to the right controller. We unpair, tried to hard reset the controllers, nothing worked. Fast forward, I tried her controllers on my companion app, they connect, shows firmware update available, I click update and it sits there doing nothing stuck on the installation screen. On my phone I never received an error, but sat for over 2 1/2 hours with it doing nothing. The play controllers never changed yellow for updated, were always solid blue. What gives? Are these controllers toast? My wife is having all sorts of issues not being able to use them updated like steering not working, shifting being wonky, etc so she can’t keep using them without the update clearly. Help!!!
I recommend contacting support ASAP so you get that process started.
By the way, if you’ve been attempting the update on Android devices, do try it on an iPhone or iPad. I don’t know if your controls are faulty but Apple devices are more reliable for doing the update.
Sadly both our phones are iphones so not sure what the hiccup is. Thank you will be reaching out to create a ticket, but hoped perhaps others may be experiencing it and there will be an update vs the controllers being the issue.
