Has anyone managed to connect there Ipad to a wattbike at the gym?
Yes. Works fine.
The results are a little disappointing as it was a normal WattBike (not an Atom), so obviously it was a dumb trainer. But beats staring at the wall 
From memory, you need make sure that the WattBike firmware is reasonably up to date. Just Google it if you have any issues.
