Just a dropped ANT+ connection … it showed NO SIGNAL but CONNECTED in the pairing screen when I tried to repair … It was a lost connection from the KICKR for power and hill simulation but my TCKR also, so this is NOT device specific … IT IS ZWIFT, I am willing to bet … I am wireless … I have used this setup for a year or so with this newer Kickr … I have a dongle extender and it rests right under my floor mat, as always …
If it was Zwift would we see a lot more people with the same or similar issues.
You could be getting interference from either your WiFi router or one that is close by. If you can get into your WiFi router try changing the channel on the 2.4GHz to a higher one.
Do you have the ability to plug a network cable into your PC?
Have you looked at this to see if any apply to your issues: How to Fix ANT+ Dropouts in Zwift | Zwift Insider
Thx – I already have a network cable plugged into my PC – sorry, I should have mentioned that … also keep in mind that all other apps work perfectly fine even when Zwift will not … Who knows … maybe by Kickr Firmware upgrade or unplug/replug of my Ant+ dongle from the extender will do the trick … KC
I’ve read all the replies and I still believe my issue is Zwift, not my computer. I’ve raised an issue with Zwift, did some troubleshooting with them last night without any joy and am waiting to hear back from the next tier up of support. In case it helps K_C - I am not sure if you have the same issue as me or not but just in case you do have the same issue as me…
It is not my video card - I run two GTX980ti cards which are suitably powerful to run Zwift and it would be very strange if a fault with them only affected Zwift and none of the other software that my computer is successfully running.
It’s not Bluetooth - I don’t use it.
It’s not Windows update (1903) as I was successfully Zwifting with this update applied before Zwift broke.
@K_C - Given what you’ve said above - Asus Gaming Computer - the CPU and RAM it’s got from your image, the fact that it is running Windows 8.1, and doing some googling I think this might be your computer . In which case it has a GTX970 graphics (video) card inside it. If this is your computer it has more than enough power to run Zwift well. It’s a pretty good machine.
Thank you Kat. I am with you. This is not our issue. It is also not a Kickr issue. What powertrainer are you on? KC
I’m on a Tacx Neo connected via ANT+
So we never really got to the bottom on this …
OK - I heard back from Zwift support. After going back and forth with a few different things and escalating up to the next support tier Zwift support suggested trying launching Zwift without my ANT+ dongle plugged in. After launching Zwift like this it started behaving normally - got to the pairing screen fine and was not acting slow or hanging (although obviously it couldn’t see anything to pair to via ANT+ or Bluetooth). I then plugged my ANT+ dongle back in and after Windows had recognised that it was attached Zwift allowed me to pair my trainer and HR monitor normally and I had a successful Zwift ride.
I then logged out of Zwift, left the dongle attached to the computer and tried launching Zwift again. Zwift again behaved normally, even though the dongle had stayed attached. Over the weekend I’ve tried Zwift a few times. If Zwift launches and hangs on the pairing screen I’ve had success unplugging the dongle, waiting for Zwift to recover and then plugging the dongle back in to pair up as per normal.
I asked Zwift support why it might be perfectly fine one day and not the next and they suggested that it’s likely that my dongle is dying. I will keep an eye on how it works but for now unplugging and re-plugging it in when / if Zwift hangs on the pairing screen seems to be working for me and allowing me to Zwift.
So our dongles are dying at the same time … really? Have you tried a new Dongle yet? I have forgotten what we even need to buy … do you have the spec, by chance? Thx Kevin
I haven’t bought a new dongle. Still using my old one and if Zwift freezes on the pairing screen I am unplugging the dongle and then re-plugging it in. I have a Tacx dongle.
Since my Wahoo Firmware upgrade, I have not had the same problems …
Thanks for the post. I had a similar sounding situation with my connection dropping early and then Zwift appearing to crash, then failing to load, even after full reinstall. I had literally run a large windows update covering all manner of hardware changes just prior, which sent me down the wrong rabbit hole.
Saw your post and thought I’d go for the long shot.
Worked instantly!
I had this happening to me to day. First time I have experienced it after Zwifting weekly for almost a year and your workaround fixed it as well (for now at least). Thanks for coming back with the solution.
Even though it may be a hardware problem on the ANT-dongle (or the connection to it), I will argue that it is still a bug that Zwift respond by being really slow and not really responding…
I too have the same issues with Zwift not responding. The same exact problem that Kat had. It worked before, then didn’t. I also was using the Ant+ dongle. So following Kat, I tried using Zwift without the Ant+ dongle and bingo it works now! I only use the Ant+ dongle for my HR. So now I have a BT HR, and all seems to be working ok now. I’m on the Kickr V5, win 7 PC, GPU GeForce GTX 1650. Thanks all for posting this issue, without it I would still be fighting this issue.
