Me too. Can hear the sound effects and if I pedal I can see I’m moving on the companion app, but the “Loading Watopia” screen just stays indefinitely.
Windows 10 on an a Lenovo laptop. I’m in Thailand. Service provider is ToT. Windows 10 is fully updated as of a few days ago.
Same thing happened 10 days ago. Re-installing Zwift fixed it but it came back yesterday. I then worked when I cleared Cache / Browsing History / reset defaults on IE / Edge followed by a reboot. Not sure if it will come back again.
This also started happening to me this weekend, my screen ‘freezes’ on the Loading screen. I’ve deleted all of the zwift files, uninstalled/reinstalled the app several times and nothing seems to work. I’d be so grateful for any advice/solution.
I have two Zwift setups in our house (mine and my wife’s). Last week my setup started encountering this issue, and after looking in the Log.txt file it appeared that UDP connectivity was acting up - I figured that something got messed up or deleted with the Windows Firewall and after making a plethora of firewall changes (IN / OUT, program based, UDP 3022 specific, etc) and restarting Zwift countless times, it started working - I figured that my firewall change fixed it, but yesterday the problem came back - first on my wife’s Windows 10 laptop (EDIT: account redacted) and then when I tried using my Windows 10 laptop (EDIT: account redacted), so it appears that the firewall changes did not resolve this and it was only coincidental. Over two hours yesterday of messing with her laptop I uninstalled/installed Zwift, clearing cache, created countless numbers of firewall rules, nothing worked. I installed Wireshark to sniff the network traffic and DID SEE Zwift issuing one UDP 3022 packet that was then acknowledged, but even though the log files see requests that follow say UDP requests are being made:
UDP connection timeout (XXX so far), reconnection attempt XXX
Connecting to UDP server…
I never saw any more UDP packets issued by Zwift in Wireshark, past the first one
I finally was able to work around the problem by pairing the laptop to a MiFi wifi connection running off my phone - and Zwift was able to get past the blue screen “Loading Waopia…” I don’t know if this was just coincidental, but it worked the one time I tried - though this CANNOT be a long term fix as my hotspot data limits are much lower than my cable provider data caps.
I have been connecting to Zwift for 8 months with no issues and no changes have been made to my home network in months - all routers and access points are still running the same firmware and no other changes have been made that should impact Zwift operation.
I just tried reconnecting with my wife’s MiFi hotspot as mentioned above and it turns out that Zwift working over this network was only coincidental - Zwift is back to hanging on “Loading Watopia…” with sound in the background, but no video. This is good as it eliminates any issues with my home network
I used the same technique @Coach.Kevin (“just watching”) and this loads Watopia just fine. I had to use this method for ZRL race on Tuesday (Magnificent 8) and was lucky the race was in Watopia! Not sure how I am going to race in any other worlds. I have tried: re-installing zwift multiple times and deleting all stagnant files, clearing cache in internet explorer.
For every world, I think it is technically loading something in the background because I can hear the world sounds to some degree, but the screen is just stuck on “Loading” and eventually I give up waiting after 5 minutes and force a shut down.
If anyone has more ideas to try as a work-around, I am happy to do so!
@shooj even though I had this problem over the last two weeks, I just did the zwift update with the new world, and everything loaded just fine. I did not pair with any devices (skipped the pairing process) and just selected the new world (loaded fine), ended the ride and selected other worlds and they loaded just fine as well.
Later today I will check if the pairing step causes any issues or if this is now completely resolved for me.
Same here. Started a few weeks ago after the “hidden screen update” (for my idea).
Keeps loading (on any world), tried several re-installs with clearing documents, cache etc.
It is starting to piss me off (sorry). Using Zwift from the start, riding 3-4 times a week in the evening (after a long day work) and then you get this…
I installed the new update yesterday, after which the new world ‘Makuri islands’ was loaded. Then I rode 5 km to attend a meetup on Watopia afterwards. When I switched to Watopia, Zwift froze again. The activity was uploaded to TrainingPeaks but not to Strava. And Companian says “Could not load activity details.”
Btw. on Apple TV it works fine.
I managed to get it to work today without pairing devices, once world had loaded I just paired devices and all worked properly. Hopefully others can use this till Zwift find out whats going on
I had the same issue (not getting past blue screen loading any world). It disappeared after the last update but now it’s happening again.
The log file states UDP timeouts:
and so on.
I’m using Win10 Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042
Germany, ISP: Telefonica Germany GmbH
@shooj Workaround: I made a copy of the ZwiftApp.exe and started the copy (login not done by launcher but inside the game itself). That way all worlds load normally (without UDP timeouts)
I’ve had this issue occur off/on since the beginning of May. Exactly the same issues that Coach.Kevin and Andy_Tough explained, getting stuck at the blue loading screen. Sometimes it seems that I would be in the world as I could hear the sound effects of the birds and ride ons occuring, but would be stuck at the blue loading screen. Running on Windows 10, laptop is a year old, cleared my cache, uninstalled and reinstalled Zwift, and continued to have this issue. Sent some logs in, haven’t heard much from Zwift except to try some recommendations such as restarting the Wifi router. Husband and I both use Zwift on the same laptop with the same Windows user ID, and he can get into his Zwift account with no issues. I assume this has got to be an issue on Zwifts end. This past week I’ve been getting stuck at these top two screens now. I can sometimes get in by “watching” someone, then returning back to me, but yes, then I’m only stuck riding in Watopia. I haven’t been able to ride Makuri Island, and have missed many group rides. I’m not a computer tech, so any help would be appreciated. I’m trying to be patient but this is really frustrating.
Still the same this morning
Workaround with starting up without pairing (choose the world tou want to go to → only watching → exit ride without saving → choose your route (if you want to), pair and ride!
