Zwift killed nv2080rtx

After a few months of no using zwift, I downloaded the latest version, got ready and started the app and the screen went black. It looks like the GPU is no good Nvidia GeForce RTx2080. I am afraid on installing a new one and get the same issue. Recommendations?

update the video drivers

Could also be the power supply going bad

Were you in full screen mode when it blacked out? If so, run it in windowed mode and see if it still dies. You can edit Documents\Zwift\prefs.xml and set <FULLSCREEN>0</FULLSCREEN>

You might also consider doing a clean re-install to get all settings back to default.

Just because it hasn’t been said - that video card is absolutely still supported by Zwift, I’m using a GTX1660Ti and get very good performance. You need to be troubleshooting, this is unlikely to be solely a Zwift issue.

Download the Nvidia experience and update your drivers. I’m running a 4080 super and it’s great other than the CPU bottleneck and Zwift throttling.

Thanks you all replies. Right now the screen goes black after the greeting screen during the windows boot up process, so I’m not able to see it the computer loads widows properly. I’m going to get a video card to test further, it looks like the video card is bad. I’ll give an update once it is sorted.

That could be a power supply problem. I would test the card in a system that is working with an equivalent or higher power card.

TBH if you can see something before it fails I’m not sure its the card, more likely another element, storage perhaps if Windows itself doesn’t load..? Have you tried a different GPU display cable? Start small and work up. That card is fine/good for Zwift BTW..

Also - if your mother board has ‘warning lights’ that would confirm if your card is bad.

I’m starting with the power supply. Then the card. CPU, memory and hard drive tested good.
