Zwift Hub Stripped Freehub

Hello everyone,

I’ve just realised I stripped my freehub, I couldn’t screw in the cassette locking head and the first freehub first thread is gone.

I’m struggling to find the right replacements, because the inner axle seems to be a 17mm and I can’t find any Shimano HG with 3 pawl freehub.

I’m using a Shimano HG 9 speed cassette, I know any HG will be fine and I’ll use the spacer recommended.

I contacted the support via email already, and searched online, but if anyone can suggest a replacement to recommend it would be very appreciated :folded_hands:

Otherwise, I’m thinking to rethread it somehow.

Thank you

Hi @andre17! Welcome to the forums! Jose here from Zwift.

I understand how important it is for you to find the correct freehub body for your cassette. I have also responded to the ticket you submitted with the information you requested. I will give you some recommendations:

1- Shimano HG spline M freehub – Compatible with your 9-speed cassette and other Shimano models.
2- Shimano-compatible freehub from brands like DT Swiss or Novatec – Reliable alternatives that support HG cassettes.
3- Spacing Considerations – Some freehubs may require a 1mm spacer for proper cassette fitment.

You can check Shimano’s official freehub compatibility guide here for more details.

Sorry you got a bad answer above. If you don’t get a replacement freehub from support you can order the Zwift Cog & Click upgrade kit from the Zwift store that comes with the multi-trainer freehub. That freehub body is compatible with the Zwift Hub.

A bike shop might also be able to clean the threads and/or find a lockring for you that will work with your existing freehub. Sometimes when I encounter a freehub with a bad first thread like that, I take a utility knife with a new sharp blade and use it to clean the threads by starting a couple threads in and running the blade in the counter-clockwise direction to remove any burrs.
