Even removing the cog is impossible… QR is totally stuck, and the answer I got from Zwift Support is to use soap… Tomorrow I will go to a local store and try to solve it, but to be honest, I am totally disappointed for what I got for the money and the pointless help I got from support.
As I stated further up in the thread, your best bet is to use a vice grip shut tightly, on an angle. there is no room for slippage.
Just for the record, I had already contacted customer support before getting it off and they automatically sent me a new one, whicj I no longer need and will be sending back.
I went to a local shop store and even they weren’t able to remove it. So, I will try to get the replacement from Zwift… but for now they only told me pointless things like use soap or try stronger with the tool…
Hi All, I have the same issue with a new Zwift hub i have just purchased. Did anyone find a fix here?
Some people have successfully removed it after first removing the cassette (the Cog on the trainer)
Some have had success taking it to a bike shop for removal. Others not.
My suggestion would be to return the trainer and either roll the dice on another Zwift Hub or ask them to replace it with a Kickr Core which won’t have that problem.
Hi, apologies if this is a silly question, what size lock ring tool is needed? Thanks
The Shimano Hyperglide cassette lockring tool is the same for all. You will need a chain whip as well to remove the cog. You only need the lockring tool to reinstall it.
This is the standard shop quality lockring tool:
A cheap kit with the lockring tool and the chain whip would look like this…
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oumers-Lockring-Cassette-Flywheel-Sprocket/dp/B075RS5T8P/
The cheaper version won’t last as long.
That’s great, thanks Paul. Hopefully once the Zwift cog is removed I’ll have some success in removing this “finger tight” adapter!
Quick update - the lockring tool and chain whip worked, once the Zwift cog was removed the adapter was exposed and using a larger adjustable spanner with more leverage the adapter released. Thanks for your assistance!
