Zwift Cog vibration and noise

Hi everyone

I’ve set up my Wahoo KICKR Core trainer with the Zwift Cog, but I’m noticing significant chain vibration (and noise) during use. Is this normal?

I’ve tried troubleshooting by:

  • Using both my girlfriend’s bike and mine.
  • Testing with both worn and brand-new chains.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to solve the issue. The vibration is quite noticeable, and I’m concerned it’s disturbing my downstairs neighbor.

Here’s a link to a short video showing the chain vibration (apologies for the quality):

Has anyone else experienced this with the Zwift Cog, or does anyone have suggestions for resolving it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

/Oliver

Hi, @Oliver_Andersen1 , welcome to Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

Sorry about this noise issue. I’m glad to help.

Based on the KICKR you have, which has a firmware version of 1.5.5, it appears that you purchased the Smart Frame, specifically the non-freehub Cog body version.

Please verify the following concerning the Zwift Cog (No Freehub):

  1. Ensure that Cog V2 is set in index position ‘1’.
  2. Check that the chain tensioner is clear of the frame in all positions and that the chain is properly centered on the pulley.
  3. Examine the frame installation to confirm that all adjustable screws are sufficiently tightened.
  4. Attempt to remove the Zwift Cog and inspect the pawls for any damage.
  5. Check if the chain sprocket is bent by taking a video from above while rotating it by hand to inspect for any bends. It seems the chain is not keeping the aligned direction straight
