Zwift closing while trying to create or edit a custom workout [Sept 2025]

Zwift is crashing every time I am in the middle of creating a custom workout. At some point, I will be editing the interval lengths and the moment i press a number key on my keyboard the entire program instantly closes. I have even seen this happen when editing the name of the workout, where as soon as I press a number key, everything closes instantly and my workout is lost. It has happened both when building a custom workout from scratch or when saving and editing an existing workout. It is driving me absolutely crazy. Please help me.

I am using a Macbook Air (M1 2020) with 8GB memory and Sequoia 15.4.1

I was able to replicate this crash on Zwift 1.98, M1 MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.7.

I created a new custom workout, added one interval to it, I was able to enter a few numbers in the title, then more for the interval duration, put some in the description, then I went back to the title and typed some more numbers and it crashed. I only typed numbers.

I did another test where I only pasted numbers from the clipboard, it seemed to be going well - pasted hundreds of numbers - but then I did some more and it crashed. Seems unpredictable how many numbers I entered before the crash.

Since you’re on macOS, you also have the option to use an external workout editor and manually install the resulting zwo file in Documents/Zwift/Workouts/(your ID)

Examples:

You can also use ChatGPT to generate zwo files.

Hi @Brendan_Tobin welcome to Zwift forums.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Please see this support article about creating custom workouts. There are some things to know so that they run trouble-free. Might any of the known things apply to you?

@Chris_D9 I think you encountered a Mac game crash when editing a workout recently. Does this report sound anything like what you encountered?

@shooj

HI Shuji,

None of that applies to my case. I have created many custom workouts in the past and never had any issues until now. I assumed this bug must be related to the most recent update to Zwift.

No matter what you type into a custom workout, the game should not crash. That is a bug. But since this might take some time for them to replicate and resolve, I think generating custom workouts in a third party app and dropping them into the Mac’s filesystem as I mentioned above is the way to get your work done for now.

Thanks both. I’ve added your report to an ongoing investigation.

Mine was a bit different, if I went to adjust a ramp up section of the workout, then Zwift would crash to desktop.

I am having this issue as well. Zwift closes as soon as I enter any number into a custom workout. Like Brendan, this occurs both when making new custom workouts and when editing an existing custom workout. I am using a Macbook Pro with 16GB memory and Sequoia 15.6.1. This problem did not occur the last time I made a custom workout (it’s been a while - at least a month ago).

I’m experiencing the same problem. When I select a custom workout and open editing mode, it crashes immediately after trying to input a number. The same happens when I create a new workout as well. The app runs fine, I just can’t use the in-game editor at all.

I’m running MacOS 15.6.1 (24G90) on MacBook Pro M1 and the latest Zwift version.

Hey everyone, wanted to share that we’re working on a solve for this right now. I’ll share some more details once we have a better idea of timing.

Thanks for your patience!

Doing it now in Windows 11 PC too.

Everyone on this thread please note game version 1.98.2 is in phased release and should fix this issue. Please update when it’s available to your PC or Mac.
