Zwift Click V2 - No Virtual Shifting [September 2025]

Hi

I got the cig and click V2 for my Directo X. Setup OK and buttons work etc but can’t seem to get the virtual shifting to work

Trainer firmware updated and Zwift up to date but can’t see where (or feel) the gears changing any resistance

Do you have an ANT+ dongle in the device running Zwift? If so, pull it out and test again. Virtual shifting requires Bluetooth.

I had to reset my preferences to get mine to work (Suito). I was just getting a message saying to enable in settings-hardware, but the settings were missing.

Hello @Mark_Harris7, welcome to Zwift Forums! I recommend trying out @Stephen_Metcalfe ‘s method of reseting your preferences. It sounds like you may have manually disabled virtual shifting in the past, but resetting your preferences will re-enable virtual shifting by default and should allow you to set your gear range and shifting style.

If this doesn’t solve the issue for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in Support!

I installed the new Cog and virtual shifters with my Zwify Hub. BlueTooth to my Mac iPad is working as well as iPhone companion app. However when I try and ride and virtual shift I get a message that virtual shifting is disable, go to settings, etc. In the setting there is nothing for virtuyal shifting. Paired devices show it’s paired though.

have you updated the firmware on all the devices using the zwift companion app?

Yes, I have.

You must never pair any device that you plan to use with Zwift in the Bluetooth settings of any device. Always let Zwift do the pairing. Go to Bluetooth settings and “forget” the devices before running Zwift.

Which is exactly how it is connected, see screen shot above.

Virtual shifting does not appear in the settings: hardware menu. It does when I connected on my phone (not the companion app, but Zwift). I had been using my iPad and then phone for the companion ap. Just upgraded to the virtual shifting cog on the Hub.

Just paired my MacBook and it works. Does not like the iPad it seems :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: . No more iPad Zwifting.

iPad now connected. Had to delete app and reinstall it. Zwift support says it’s a common issue with IOS (Mac) platforms.

Your screenshot shows the Click and Hub paired in the iPad’s Bluetooth settings, which they should not be. You should only connect them directly through the Zwift app. So you would need to select them in the iPad Bluetooth menu and ‘forget’ them.

That was not the issue. I always let Zwift pair with my devices, and that’s how it shows up.The issue was a glitch with Zwift and Mac IOS. I upgraded my Zwift Hub with the Cog V2. Per Zwift support I needed to delete my app on all Mac devices and reinstall. It works perfectly now on iPhone, MacBook and iPad. So, any Mac users take note. (it’s not a bluetooth pairing issue).

I would like to add to this topic that I am beyond frustrated with the lack of an easily found explanation how the virtual shifting protocol works. Do the Click or Play controllers transmit to the resistance on the trainer or only to the device running Zwift (or ZC)? Why can the resistance only pair via Bluetooth? I’ve spent the money for a Dircon connection on my Justo2 that also bridges my HRM to get away from Bluetooth dropouts and then virtual shifting insists I use Bluetooth for resistance, and I’m getting dropouts, which seem only to be on the resistance. While the shifting does not respond or the “don’t have a compatible trainer” textbox appears shortly after the ride starts the Play or Click controllers and Rizer steering continue to work fine. Virtual shifting was working great on my Samsung Tab S6. I now have a Samsung Tab S7 FE with a bigger screen and I’m having this problem. It would be great to have more troubleshooting information but better yet allow wifi/dircon.
