I recently bought a Zwift Cog upgrade for my Kick v6. The cog installation was simple but after two days of trying to connect the click to be able to change gears I had no luck.
I run zwift on a windows 10 PC and the game version is auto updated. I have bluetooth access directly on the PC, but I use ANT+ as my garmin heart rate monitor is ant+.
The zwift click is paired with my PC bluetooth (and I have switched off the bluetooth on my phone for first test.)
And paired my kikcv6 via the PC bluetooth to the game
However when clicking on the controller button I get an empty menu
I have deleted the knowndevices.xml and prefs.xml files and retried the same process with the same result.
I turned the Bluetooth on my PC off and switched on the BT on my iphone.
I started the Companion app, went to hardware and found zwift click, connected it and update firmware.
The Zwift Click is shown as connected in my BT.
I started the Zwift game on my PC and switched PAIR THROUGH PHONE on and connected all the units to phone via companion.
However the Zwift Click disappeared of the companion app screen and no longer appeared in the BT menu
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I scanned your server log history and your KICKR is on an very outdated firmware version 5.0.4 that doesn’t support Virtual Shifting. The latest v6 firmware is v5.3.5. Please update the firmware following the instructions on Wahoo’s support site.
Good callout on your need for ANT. By all means leave your ANT dongle plugged in, but you will need to be careful in the pairing screen to select the signals with the Bluetooth icon vs the ANT icon in this sequence
Power: Pair first, must be over Bluetooth for Virtual Shifting to work.
Resistance: Expect a ~15 second delay for the Bluetooth signal to “advertise” after the Power signal is bonded. This lag over Blueooth is normal. The ANT signal will advertise instantly, and this is the part you have to be careful.
Controllers: Bluetooth.
Cadence: Bluetooth
Heart Rate Monitor: In your case, obviously ANT+.
If see you prefer to pair your devices over a bridged connection using the Companion app. Nothing wrong with that. By all means continue doing that, but pairing all your things directly to the Zwift app (aka “native” Bluetooth paring) should also work. Does it?
Thanks Shuji, I need to appologies to @Paul_Southworth - he was absolutely right, I have now update software and I found the Zwift click. Something to get use to but it seems to be working now
In fact the oposite, I hate the companion app as it i super unstable in our home. That is why I bought a bluetottoh dongle for my PC, but a explained I tpically did not use blue tooth anyway as I was using only ant+, now with the cog I dont have a choice to use BT but for sure I will use the “onboard” BT
