ZRacing Power to the Portal not finishing at top

I’d be curious how many people see the top of the climb confetti and assume it’s the finish. The event seems set up so the finish is at the running track back beyond the start pens.

Is people going the wrong way simply the version mismatch bug?

You might be the first person on the forum who wants a higher racing score.

The events I’ve seen have finished at the running track just right of the green dot/start, before the turn up to the desert. The other riders probably rode to that point.

Others say it isn’t consistently finishing at that point… but it is all I’ve seen so far.

OMG !! It explains everything and the reason I lost a rank at the portal! They made this event really confusing… On the event’s details, it’s written 18.5 km total as you can see in the picture. So when I reached the top of the hill in the portal section, which is about 18.5km, I had in mind that it was the finish, and I was so exhausted from my “false finish” that I did not see the race was still on. Wow. It’s the first time it has happened to me in two years of Zwifting… Thank you for the clue. Case solved.

Totally agreed with you, Kevin. There seem to be multiple issues with this race and the only way to handle it fairly is to back out the effect on everyone who participated. I’m sure others have suffered more negative effects than I did. Many of us deal with software, so we understand the challenges, and we can forgive mistakes, but the issue is really more about Zwift handling their mess. I would have raced it again today, but I expect it is still broken.

The people on this forum, and ZwiftHQ, are so weak that they don’t realise that a top time of 25 minutes can only be achieved by finishing at the top of a mountain.

It sounds like most 25min times come from people skipping the portal and going to the finish direct.

When this week is over, Zwift will likely keep quiet about the issue again, and there won’t be any compensation. A mistake robbed me of a victory? That’s unacceptable. Why can’t the result simply be corrected? Technically, it can’t be that complicated; Zwift should put in a bit of effort when such serious errors occur. I’ve had enough, because this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.

What would consider adequate compensation?

Take a breath, you’ll be fine

The other thing about this event (as observed from a stream recorded today) is there was no countdown of meters to the finish which people use to time their sprint

The exact same thing happened to me this evening! I had ridden more than 11.5 mi and had finished the climbing portal, so I thought I must have finished the race. I left and was surprised to later see myself listed as DNF!

Has this issue been fixed already?

We had a count down in my race today but the winner finished 6 min ahead of #2 so he may have been directed past the portal.

I thought the route was a good one if it finished at the top

Too bad it didn’t work as planned.

Why haven’t they just taken all these climb portal races off the schedule and use a different route, it clearly doesn’t work right?

There are two counters on screen.

Route - remaining & the blue bar. The route is published as 22.2km and ends at 22.2km.

Sorry to hear that. At least, I feel a little less alone, knowing that I’m not the only one to have been fooled by this event.

had a DNF as well. I’m pretty sure I rode the distance:

For those of us in way too many various zwift related FB groups which one are we calling the “official”?

the one end at the top be official for day 1, 2-7 day would just pass down town.
